BTW BJ, when are you going to cease making the fraudulent claim that you are a National Merit Scholar?

Dang...leave for months, come back..same old Becky. -No evidence to support her claim that selective enforcement occurs. -No evidence the ordinance was passed by "the control freaks".(Unless she means the greater Santa Cruz Community, who by a BIG percentage support this ordinance. And yes BJ, I can statistically prove that FACT.) In summation? Becky is still a liar, but Happy New Year to the rest of you!

Becky Not a Merit Scholar Johnson wrote: <quoted text> BECKY: Because police selectively enforce the law by only citing poor & homeless people, or "hippies". The law also targets pot smokers who just came out of the closet. Any evidence to back up this claim? Or is it just one of your dope-fueled fabricated to fit your delusional personal agenda? Just more fodder to fill your trough of unbelievable "facts". When you were mastering the skills required for "classic debate", were you absent the day the teacher explained the difference between fact and opinion? That's probably one of the reasons why you never reached National Merit Scholar status.

Ok BJ, it's officially groundhog day. You are permitted to ask why a burnt door costs $50K, claim that Camp Paradise was destroyed by police, state that 'positive change meters' are unconstitutional, and ask why it's illegal to loiter in a parking structure. Enjoy. (But be careful on the last one, given the recent capture of a man loitering in a parking structure and stealing items from cars.)

POST #529 WRITES: "-No evidence to support her claim that selective enforcement occurs." BECKY: ANYONE can do a public records request. So if you WANT to prove me wrong, get your own evidence. "-No evidence the ordinance was passed by "the control freaks".(Unless she means the greater Santa Cruz Community, who by a BIG percentage support this ordinance. And yes BJ, I can statistically prove that FACT.)" BECKY: The ordinance was passed by a majority on the City Council.(I think it was unanimous, actually). But THREE councilmembers pushed for it: Lane, Coonerty, and Rotkin. As for the "greater community". A SENTINEL poll showed 1/3 of the community were against the ordinance including non-smokers. so support was NOT universal. Or do you dispute this?

Majority rules ashtray breath...and you aren't in it. Keep it real. Obama's margin of victory was 52%, and it's considered a blowout by all realistic accounts. And so I'd say 66% is more than enough to show the smoking ban is hugely popular. And the majority want it. Or do you dispute this?

Any election where the winner received 2/3 of the votes cast would be considered a landslide. You confuse Pancakes when you use fractions and per cents. She still thinks SC teachers make $823/day, fire and smoke damage can be repaired with a coat of paint and marijuana is good for school children. How can you expect anyone who thinks like that to be rational.

Or do you dispute this? BJ, 1. Prove YOUR assertion that there is selective enforcement. Otherwise, it's just more lies, inuendo, and hyperbole that you are famous for. 2. By your own words above, a BIG percentage of the community supports the ordinance. Thanks for making the case. BTW, have fun in jail.

"BECKY: ANYONE can do a public records request. So if you WANT to prove me wrong, get your own evidence." Then go ahead and do some real journalistic work and do one yourself. The burden of proof is on you to provide legitimate support for your claims. I would imagine that it would be nice for you to be right once on these forums.

Last week I was in the parking lot between the Metro bus station and Tampico Kitchen. The ground was littered with cigarette butts. I guess the SCPD is looking in the wrong place to reduce smoking on Pacific Avenue. No doubt they concentrate their attention on the homeless on Upper Pacific Avenue while ignoring teen smokers on Lower Pacific Avenue near the Metro bus station, Bonesio's Liquor and the Saturn Cafe. What's the going rate for smoking protection from the SCPD and 1st Alarm for businesses?

Becky I agree with you. The Santa Cruz smoking ban ordinance was a sham to gain publicity and to drive away 'undesirable' people from Pacific Avenue. You can see SCPD officers breaking the ban, smoking in banned areas and leaving their butts on the street.
