Even Mayor Don Lane has acknowledged that when you drive people from "there" there is no "there" for them to go. That as cities like Santa Cruz pass series of ordinances making all public property "off Limits" to the public for a myriad of innocent behaviors (e.g. sitting down, lying down, or playing a flute too near a statue) virtually everywhere becomes illegal. And when everywhere is illegal, it's the same as everywhere being open game for outdoor living out of necessity.

A far more practical solution would be to create spaces that actually serve the needs of a given segment of the population. For instance, the City could designate 2 or 3 acres for a homeless campground out of its 2000+ acres of parkland, greenspace, and greenbelt.

And have it turned into a violence plagued cesspool within 2 weeks.

Sure thing crackpot.

Here you are demanding the taxpayers fund a "free" campground for any freeloading parasite that stumbles into town.

But the flabby fraud won't allow her two bums-by-choice to camp in HER back yard.

Let's hear it lardass, why do you demand things that YOU refuse to do yourself?

Fat chance of that ever happening.

I don't think that you, Robert, and Ed comprehend that you've provided the opposition of such a camp with all the ammunition they need to stop it from ever happening. BumFest2010 and the HUFF takeover if the OSC camp proved that a self regulated campground would devolve into total chaos. Yes you provided a port-o-potty, but you also created an environment that fostered violence, drinking, drug use, crime, a huge amount of waste, and unsanitary conditions. The three if you have provided the examples of why such a camp should never be allowed. Once again, by not being strategic with your actions you have hurt the future possibilities of those you pretend to "advocate" for.

Given your comprehension problems I'm sure you cannot see this.

Hey BJ, doesn't Robert Kahn-job's family own thousands of acres of forestland in the Northwest?

Why don't you tell him to donate a few "free" acres for the Woodstock-sized bumfest you always demanded the taxpayers fund?

BUZZ WRITES: "And have it turned into a violence plagued cesspool within 2 weeks."

BECKY: That is not what happened at Occupy Santa Cruz. Sure. They were not devoid of problems such as drunkeness, meth-users, theft, and domestic violence. What population of 250 people isn't? But what REALLY happened is that people who had been HIDING OUT, sleeping in the bushes and behind dumpsters had the dignity of a domicile to store their meager possessions, provide a modicum of privacy, and quite literally, shelter from the storm.

You are simply biased against homeless people and continue to characterize them as drug addicts, drunks, and violent criminals and/or lazy.

Unfortunately, you are not just some "nut fringe element" but accurately represent the positons of community leaders such as Vice-Chief Steve Clark, Zach Friend, and Chip.

BECKY: SEE my comments to BUZZ above. As for the "huge amount of waste" that was the PERSONAL POSSESSIONS of the people that were ORDERED OFF THE PROPERTY ON THREAT OF ARREST. Basically, anything they couldn't carry away on their person was trash-mashed and dubbed "garbage" by ZACH FRIEND. Basically I think his whole attitude is "garbage."

Thanks for including me in such a laudable group. It's a shame you fit in the former (nut fringe element) to you use your own words. You've increases the Bumfest numbers today from 200 to 225 and now to 250. When will you stop? 500 or 1000. Have you jacked up the number of cops from 90 to 900 that evicted the final 20 bums from their occupation? And YOU wonder why no one takes you seriously.

Gee BJ, you conveniently left out drug sales, assault and battery, breaking and entering, damage to personal property, conspiracy, obstructing/delaying police officers, threats to damage personal property, attempts to damage county property, littering, and unsanitary food preparation.

BTW, your comment minimizing the offenses of OSC by stating and inferring that such criminal activities would occur in any group of 250 people is laughable. It seems. however, that groups and individuals YOU and Norse affiliate yourselves (Anna, Lito, Balderos, Chris Doyon, Bumfest 2010, OSC, etc., etc., etc.) to seem to break the law on a recurring basis. Your reference to the "nut fringe element" should more accurately appply to YOU, the Kahn-job, HUFF, and a good majority of the OSC hooligans.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
