=o Thank you former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush The Bushes went and met privately with these families for HOURS, hugging them, holding them, comforting them. If there are any of you out there with any connection at all to the Bushes, we implore you to give them our thanks…you tell them that a bunch of gay Hillary guys in Boystown, Chicago were wrong about the Bushes…and are deeply, deeply sorry for any jokes we told about them in the past, any bad thoughts we had about these good, good people. We hope someday to be able to thank George W. and Laura in person for all they’ve done, and continue to do. They didn’t have to head to Ft. Hood. That was not their responsibility. The Obamas should have done that. But didn’t. Wouldn’t. Thank goodness George W. is still on his watch, with wonderful Laura at his side. |

Steve, you seem to think we are all very complacent and forgetful. Many or most of the lefty loons you worship approved of Bush's decision to go to war. Just because a few years have passed changes nothing.

1 Poor lying loon, I don't worship anyone from the Left, Right or Center ! I find it amazing how those on the CONservative side of the aisle who believe this (Iraq and Afghanistan) to be a Holy war, let an all voluntary armed forces do their "over there" battle for them ! That's why I refer to these God talking Church going CONservatives as Chickenhawks ! The ** CHICKENHAWKS ** [ "Chicken Hawks" are people who are enthused about their country engaging WAR – which is why they are called "hawks",– but who make sure that their own butts are nowhere near the fighting – which makes them "Chicken Hawks" .–] "I am angry that so many of the sons of the powerful and well-placed... managed to wangle slots in Reserve and National Guard units... Of the many tragedies of Vietnam, this raw class discrimination strikes me as the most damaging to the ideal that all Americans are created equal and owe equal allegiance to their country." 1 Wayward Christian Soldiers By CHARLES MARSH Published: January 20, 2006 Charlottesville, Va. IN the past several years, American evangelicals, and I am one of them, have amassed greater political power than at any time in our history. But at what cost to our witness and the integrity of our message? Recently, I took a few days to reread the war sermons delivered by influential evangelical ministers during the lead up to the Iraq war. That period, from the fall of 2002 through the spring of 2003, is not one I will remember fondly. Many of the most respected voices in American evangelical circles blessed the president's war plans, even when doing so required them to recast Christian doctrine. Charles Stanley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, whose weekly sermons are seen by millions of television viewers, led the charge with particular fervor. "We should offer to serve the war effort in any way possible," said Mr. Stanley, a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention. "God battles with people who oppose him, who fight against him and his followers." In an article carried by the convention's Baptist Press news service, a missionary wrote that "American foreign policy and military might have opened an opportunity for the Gospel in the land of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob." As if working from a slate of evangelical talking points, both Franklin Graham, the evangelist and son of Billy Graham, and Marvin Olasky, the editor of the conservative World magazine and a former advisor to President Bush on faith-based policy, echoed these sentiments, claiming that the American invasion of Iraq would create exciting new prospects for proselytizing Muslims. Tim LaHaye, the co-author of the hugely popular "Left Behind" series, spoke of Iraq as "a focal point of end-time events," whose special role in the earth's final days will become clear after invasion, conquest and reconstruction. For his part, Jerry Falwell boasted that "God is pro-war" in the title of an essay he wrote in 2004. The war sermons rallied the evangelical congregations behind the invasion of Iraq. An astonishing 87 percent of all white evangelical Christians in the United States supported the president's decision in April 2003. Recent polls indicate that 68 percent of white evangelicals continue to support the war. But what surprised me, looking at these sermons nearly three years later, was how little attention they paid to actual Christian moral doctrine. Some tried to square the American invasion with Christian "just war" theory, but such efforts could never quite reckon with the criterion that force must only be used as a last resort. As a result, many ministers dismissed the theory as no longer relevant. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/20/opinion/20m... |

What inspired my brothers and sisters in Iraq was the cry "Hillary Voted for this" or my personal favorite "lets take that hill for diversity".

"Bush's War" could also be called "Kerry's War" or any number of Democrats who approved the resolution. Over the years, people like hez (or should I say followers of Keith Doberman and Rachel Lesbian) have twisted their rhetoric to the point that it was Bush alone who invaded Iraq and completely wipe out the facts that the resolution was largely to "prevent" Saddam from OBTAINING chemical weapons if he had not already.
Minority Leader Richard Gephardt, D-Missouri, said giving Bush the authority to attack Iraq could avert war by demonstrating the United States is willing to confront Saddam over his obligations to the United Nations. "I believe we have an obligation to protect the United States by preventing him from getting these weapons and either using them himself or passing them or their components on to terrorists who share his destructive intent," said Gephardt, who helped draft the measure. |

1 "BuSh's" War never could have taken place without all of his Pushing Armageddon enablers/supporters ! He never got my Vote for any office and I never bought his use of Jesus in the debate ! I think many CONservatives fell for that one ! Armageddon Lobby -- trying to hurry up God --Its "Christian" Muscle With the collapse of communism (and Nazism before it) mankind's utopian fantasies have returned to a religious hue. The Armageddonites (and their co-believer extreme fundamentalists in the Muslim and Jewish worlds) are the new dreamers of bringing paradise to earth, just, however, with the need to eliminate much of the human race first. In America we have now this strange alliance, the Israeli Likud settler lobby gets money, guns and political cover. In exchange millions of born again "rapture" evangelicals gain fulfillment, believing that they are helping God to end the world during their lifetimes and thereby will get a quick pass to heaven "without dying" (no judgment day). Oh, and with the death of all Jews (and the rest of the human race) who do not convert to their faith. Their "Heaven" incidentally, is sort of socialist with no inequality and everyone rich. A popular Gaither Singers song describes how one won't need to cut the grass in Heaven. The Book of Revelations in the Bible, upon which they build their scenario, is also very controversial. It was made scripture three centuries after the death of Christ. "Traditionally attributed to St. John, most Biblical scholars now recognize its literary style and its theology has little in common with John's gospel or his epistles and was likely written after his death. Martin Luther found the vindictive God of Revelations incompatible with the gospels and relegated it to the appendix of his German translation of the New Testament instead of the body of scripture. All the Protestant reformers except Calvin regarded apocalyptic millenialism to be heresy." http://www.iraqwar.org/ArmageddonUpdates.htm |

1 Democrats voted to give Bush authority to use military force to convince Saddam to give up his WMDs. Bush deceitfully used this opportunity to embark upon a seriously misguided war of choice. He then humiliated American principles by torturing people and denying the basics of justice to our alleged enemies. The real sin of Democrats was to continue passing funding legislation for the war after they gained power in 2006. If they had cut off the money spigot, Republicans could have accepted their disaster and blamed it on Democrats. They might have even regained power. Instead, the political genius Nancy Pelosi allowed Republicans to lead us to the very brink of economic and political disaster where we all stared into the abyss. What else could account for America electing a black man as president of the US? Only a moron as accomplished as George F. Bush could have pulled off such an historic feat. I hope it's worth all the war dead and the hundreds of thousands seriously maimed and traumatized. And Republicans shouldn't forget the Trillions of dollars it will cost us before the last Iraq war veteran dies. |

1 Newsflash for the Brownwood area BuSh supporting CONservative War Cheerleading Chickenhawks: In the Iraq war, Christians pushed to the brink Iraq’s Christians have been targeted for kidnapping and forced to flee their homes. One advocate says that in a generation, Christians could be gone from the land they’ve lived in for 2,000 years. http://www.csmonitor.com/2009/1110/p12s01-wog... |

1 You know, that's actually a pretty good assessment. I NEVER bought the WMD justification and always felt that the sole focus of the war should have been the pursuit of Bin Laden. You are also right that Bush spent like a Democrat and increased the deficit. But you can't blame the entire economic crisis on Bush. Remember Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Remember when the Bush administration pointed out that there were problems that needed to be looked into? Remember that other prominent GOPers like John McCain said the same thing? Remember how Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Franklin Raines and Maxine Waters stamped their little feet in unison and proclaimed, "There is NO PROBLEM at Fannie or Freddie," like a Greek Chorus, and frankly they were shocked and offended that anyone might suggest such a thing? Remember how Bawney Fwank practically did a Snagglepuss spit-take in his righteous indignation? Yeah, if you are looking for the guys who sank the boat you might want to talk to the ones who were knocking each other out of the way to get a turn at the drill. As far as torture goes... Pardon me for not shedding a tear for a guy with a wet towel over his face for a minute when he would just as soon cut my head off. Remember Daniel Pearl and Nick Berg? That's all in a day's work for the Religion of Peace. Yes, I used to think that George W. Bush would go down as the worst president in history until you idiots elected Barrack Obama. Heck, I'm starting to think we would be better off with Jeb in the White House... |
