This information does not bode well for DePuy's Pinnacle system. Although a recall of the Pinnacle system has not yet been implemented, the FDA has already received complaints against this metal-on-metal device. This could eventually lead to numerous lawsuits. This because I came across this website http://www.depuyhipreplacementlawsuit.com which stated that 93,000 people worldwide have used the implant and medical studies said that one in every eight of those patients will have their implant failing just five years after they started using the device.
Mars New York, NY	Reply » \| Report Abuse \| Judge it! \| #11 Dec 9, 2011 Lawsuits are probably nothing new anymore to the DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. with court documents showing that nearly 20 are filed every day in connection to the manufacturer's recalled ASR hip systems. I learned from http://www.rotlaw.com/depuy-asr/ that more and more affected patients are seeking the help of a lawyer so they would get fully compensated for all the sufferings and financial trouble they experienced as a result of the defective implants.

Most of them are due to the inaccurate approval system known as 510(k) process. U.S. regulators are still looking on the possibility for this review system to be enhanced.
