Dog park may change rules after pit bull attack

PitBulls and agressive dogs should be musseled at the park at all times.

oh get over it dogs fight, all dogs fight but when its a pitt bull everyone freaks out

you know all of the people that have pitbulls should not be allowed at the dog beach and dot argue with me either its true they are mean and they are dum dogs

Actually, it's the dumb people in America who treat their dogs like pampered people. You figure by now, enough folk would watch the Dog Whisperer and realize it's the owners who cause the unstable dogs, and any dog park will have a LOAD of em. You know, those who have conversation with the dogs, those who treat their dogs as people...btw, dog parks are the worst place for the pitbull terrier, because of this unstable pack area...and they are the ones who will finish the fight.

I have a pitbull and he is very nice to other dogs and kids. I take him out everyday to dog parks and have been socializing him since he was a pup. Yes, history says that pitbulls were trained to kill animals and other dogs, but ur dog was once wild just like all other dogs. All dogs are domestic dogs which means my dog, ur dog, everyones dog came from the wild. Pitbulls arent dumb, people who say they are say that only because their scared of them. Pitbulls protect the family and their not pussy dogs. So, people need to stop talking like they know pitbulls (especially those who have never owned a pitbull) and stop saying that their agressive. Im sry that u have a pussy dog, which makes my dog I guess you can say "a killer" in ur eyes.

you people have a lot of learning to do, pitbulls are like any other dog, the only difference is their name. quit trying to make the pittbull out to be some kind of monster i have 3 and all are great dogs, all dogs fight and all dogs bite its just that when a PITBULL bites they leave more damage than any other because of their powerful jaws, so it just seems like they are out to kill.
GET A LIFE and get a pitbull you might be suprised at how gentle they really are. of course they dont like cats how many dogs do? and they will fight another dog that is just a dogs instinct any dogs instinct is to protect what is theirs their owner their home and what ever else they believe belongs to them do all of us a favor if your so scared of pitts leave your stupid dogs at home and quit your b*tchin

Pits are the only reason and the dog park only place I carry the 40 cal. after work. I would let dogs fight but keep them away from me and kids. See ya.

all dogs want to fight pitbulls just have the stregth to win....and if you don't train them right , ya they might take advantage of that but with any dog you have to let them know that you make the rules

UNFORTUNATELY BAD PEOPLE HAVE RAISED THEIR PITBULLS TO BE AGGRESSIVE AND ATTACK, WHICH GIVES THEM A BAD NAME. YOU CAN TRAIN ANY DOG TO BE AGGRESSIVE.
WE HAVE 2 PITBULLS, A 4 YEAR OLD, AND A CAT AND THEY ARE PERFECT TOGETHER. MY DOGS HAVE NO AGGRESSIVENESS IN THEM WHAT SO EVER. INFACT THE OTHER DAY AT THE DOG PARK A POODLE ATTACKED MY PITBULL FOR NO REASON HE WAS STANDING NEXT TO MY DAUGHTER AND THAT LITTLE DOG CAME CHARGED MY DOG AND BIT HIM, CUT HIS FACE BAD ENOUGH IT WAS BLEEDING. HE DIDNT EVEN DO ANYTHING BACK. JUST RAN BEHIND ME.

First not all dogs want to fight. Second, some bull owners are the reason their dogs are vicious. I did have and experience with a pit bull. While walking dogs (golden and malamute) with no leash a guy with pit bull I spot walking my way so I retrieve my dogs. He sees me and so does his dog. I yell to him to hold his dog he just looks at me and ignores my shout. I repeat myself still no response. Here comes Mr. Pit bull and is not coming to play and this guy is just watching. The bull goes after Barney the malamute I and try and get between them and this guy does not even call his dog. Well I didn't know how tough Barney was, he was never in dog fight or bitten anything. Barney literally beat the snot out of this bull and now the owner comes running. We separate them and man did I give a**hole shit. I did feel sorry for his bull, man his face was really ripped up and I mean BAD. That was years ago and Barney is gone now and that was his only bad experience with a dog, he loved to play.

Central Illinois woman mauled by pet pit bulls

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.--Springfield police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old woman mauled to death by her pet pit bulls.

Police are not releasing the woman's name. She was found dead inside her home Sunday afternoon, and authorities have described the scene as gruesome.

Springfield Deputy Chief Clay Dowis says investigators are interviewing a man who lived at the home with the victim. He says police believe the woman's death was an accident.

The two dogs and a puppy found at the home are being kept by animal control officers.

The woman's autopsy is scheduled for this week.

It's not 'Pit Bulls' that are the problem it is their irresponsible owners. They have become a symbol of 'toughness' therefore, most people who own them are total douchbags who think they are living in a rap video.

If you research the history of all dogs, they originated from the wolf. Each breed has certain built in characteristics. Herding dogs tend towards that, terriors are barky and a bit high strung, etc. etc. Well I myself do not like pit bulls. A family member of mine took in a mixed pit bull breed and its behavior when tense was obvious. It took lots of work trying to train it not to behave that way until finally they gave up, thank heavens as they have children. You can keep your pit bulls, far away from me. They have very powerfull jaws and can hang on much harder than most dogs.

Read what I wrote, any mean dog should be musseled.I keep reading about certain pit bull owners being the excuse they are aggressive dogs.Then why is it so many stupid people own pit bulls?

This is what happens because of stupid people. I read this after logging off the forum today.

TALLAHASSEE: Responding to growing concerns about dog attacks, a Florida lawmaker wants to give local governments more authority to target dangerous breeds with tighter controls and bans.

A bill in the Florida House would reverse an 18-year-old state prohibition on breed-specific local regulations on dogs.

Politicians from Broward and Palm Beach counties say they'd like to ban dangerous dogs, specifically pit bulls, or at least keep them away from public places.

The legislation, which lacks a matching bill in the Senate, has met resistance from dog owners who are concerned that their pets might become outlawed.
