Growing up near Sandusky, I can still remember the Demon Drop commercials, as Cedar Point promoted their newest ride that summer and spring...
My friends and I used to place quarters on our knees right before the drop. During the free-fall, the coins would hover 6-7 inches off our knees!

Demon drop hurts when you make that sudden stop. I agree with Claw71. The Power Tower definitely outranks it. I remember when they were trying to sell that ride and they had no takers.

I'm sure the days of the Blue Streak, Mine Ride and Gemini are numbered as well. The rides I rode as a child and during those warm summer nights in the 80's and 90's. I can still picture it... |

To me, the drop was not the scary part. To me, it was when you reached the top of the tower and then the you were pushed FORWARD and locked into position, prior to the drop. I always wondered if it could possibly not stop and lock, but just nose over and head for the ground! |
