I think that former Deputy District Attorney, William McCardle, is alive and well. Who checked this fact?

A conviction and a prison sentence is serious business! I hope our DA's office takes it seriously enough to look into it earnestly, and is big enough to admit a mistake if there was one.
As for Bill McCardle, he is listed as an active attorney with the Cal Bar, and living in Pebble Beach.
I hope the DA is better at investigation than the Herald.

I wouldn't put it past the police to leak information to jail house snitches to provide "evidence" to convict someone. Sadly, more attention is paid to getting someone convicted than to getting at the truth. Sagin is not a sympathetic character, but he should be punished for crimes he committed. While the police and the DA are congratulating themselves for locking up Sagin, there may be a killer still out here preying on the rest of us.

There is so much corruption in the monterey system. I am very sure there is a killer still out there. When did the DA start looking for help from jailhouse informants. there in jail for wrong doing. all of a sudden there word helps convict someone for the wrong crime. looks and sounds like a set up to me.

if guilty, he needs to be where he is..since we don't know the other facts (besides the informants) it's hard to say..but if there's dna evidence of other or different people involved.shouldn't this be a priority if there's a possibility he wasn't involved

What upsets me is when they first decided LAST YEAR they were going to test the DNA found, the Herald reported it and did not bother to contact the family. Paula's family was notified of the article by friends. I was so upset for the family that I actually contacted the woman who wrote the article who then told me that there was an attempt to contact family but the DA had not information on how to locate them. Bullshit. Straight up bullshit. How can you work for a newspaper and not have resources to locate family members that are originally from the area and went to school and graduated here, owned property here...pay taxes here. The writer then asked me for contact info on the family and wanted to know how they were doing and their thoughts on the testing and wanted to talk with them and ask them questions. Yeah..I am really going to give her that information. Are you joking? I find it heartless, irresponsible and lacking compassion for the family's feelings to find out in the way they did about these articles. BOTH ARTICLES were printed without even notifying the surviving family members. Tell me in a year that you can't be human enough to really try to notify the family? It's all about selling papers and headlines no matter how it affects those directly involved, right? Wonder how Virginia Hennesey would feel if this was her mother and she was the one who found her then to see these articles the way Paula's family found out about them. I am so livid and upset for Paula's family! Right now, I am just praying for the family to help them get through reliving Paula's murder all over again.

He is my next-door neighbor. As far as I know, he is still around. I was shocked to read "... the late William McCardle..." Another case of crack reporting from the Herald?

I would like to know about the fate of William McCardle. He worked for the DA's Office for something like thirty years. He was a legend. Are you saying he's dead? I heard he was in Arizona visiting his grandchildren.

Whats wrong with using the DNA test? makes no sense and looks like Monterey county is hiding something. No I don't remember Brooks. But no one should be in prison for something they did not do. I hope mr sagin proves them wrong and gets everything he has coming to him for the last 25 or so years. I can't believe someone would say he's better off in prison. What if it was your ass in there for something you didn't do I bet you'ed be singing a different song.

this guy sounds like he's being set up. what did the jail house informants get for testifying? lets check? without them they have nothing. this is one of them cases that should be on tv, like the ones I watch everyday. no dna no case. theres a killer or 2 running around and monterey seems not to care?
