Good to see peaceful democracy in action. What a sight, 5 thousand citizens exercising their first amendment rights. Viva la Constitution.

Funny too that Tom Lyden is still so smarting over his criminal conviction for theft that he can't be an impartial reporter.

What a bunch of dolts. Protest all you want, it will change nothing. If you want to pay less in taxes then move to another state! Neither the Democrats or the Republicans want to stop spending, they only differ on how to pay for their pet projects. Nice to see the talk radio wingnuts still have control over the minds of the empty headed.

It's great that folks are getting involved. Just one question: Where were they as the gov't. racked up huge deficits from 2000 - 2008?

Hm, you must not have been in Oakdale yet for the Tax rallies that have been going on at the state capital every year (that includs 2000-2008) for the past, what 10 years or so, so you might not know this is not a new event.

Hope that helps.

this whole tea party thing is hysterical. Do these people not understand they got tax CUTS from Obama? And do they really believe cutting taxes is a viable alternative to the stimulus package? Elementary economics, people.

The real dolts are the ones that can't see the difference. There are Republicans that don't understand limited government but the Democrats are controlled by true Marxists Socialists. If you can't see that then don't waste time posting because you have nothing worth saying.

The people at the TEA party were a very interesting collection of causes and outlooks but we all agree that socialism is not tyhe answer. They certainly were not an orchestrated bunch of right wing radicals like the Democrats want to make everyone think.

I'll bet the Acorn funded 'counter rally' didn't have 10% of the turnout and yet there 'spokesperson' was given more coverage than any speaker at the TEA party was.

I swear this is the chant I heard...

"1234 we don't know what we're protesting for!"

I bet these idiots voted for Obama. Now they're protesting him?

You echo my sentiments. Party politics is dead we need something new. If McCain was in office right now, they'd be protesting alot of the same issues.

There are no tax cuts in Obama's plans. Reducing withholding $30 a month so you get less of a refund next year is not a tax cut.

And yes, cutting taxes would have worked. It always has. Where did you get your ecenomics degree? Public (elementary) school I would guess.

The 'stimulus bill' had almost no stimulus in it. It was 60-70% pure pork with the excuse that we must act immediately even though 80% of the money will not be spent in the first year. Only an idiot, or a Democrat, could claim that was a stimulus bill.

The signs I saw people carrying when watching the protest on the news were anti-Obama.

I think these people would have been better off if they would have protested more taxes. The rich don't pay enough.

Thanks for accually covering this event. Your version of a tax cut ($13) and mine are different. Funny on the same day that this is going on I get a letter from the county stating that the value of my house has risen 9.8%. Okay, they say they "we won't raise your tax" but instead of raise the assessed value of my home...still will pay 10% more in tax. Funny every one in the county has seen home values decrease by about 30% but the county thinks home values are going up. This is just one example on the local level. I support anyone who is willing to stand up and say enough...I don't care what your politics, race, religion...I have your back if you have the spine.

Ohh la Dora. Tell ya what big boy, once you get out of elementary school we can have a discussion on economics and the redistribution of wealth, and how reducing tax-with holdings for a temporary fix doth not a tax cut make. And how this stimulus is just a temporary bunch of free money that will need to be paid back, with interest, like a big fat credit card bill that you (well maybe not you, but your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren) will never be able to get out from under of. That is assuming you will make it out of the 6th grade.

I especially like the "Dissent is Patriotic" sign. It's all these conservative whacknuts who critized anyone not supporting the wars as "unpatriotic."

Know what, you're right, we were much better off with a President that gave tax cuts, then turned around and spent twice as much money as he had. That's some great fiscal responsibility.

Protest at UNC stops ex-congressman's speech

http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/4954946/

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.— Campus police used pepper spray on student protesters angry over immigration issues who disrupted a speech by former Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Hundreds of protesters denouncing Tancredo's tough stances against illegal immigration gathered at Bingham Hall on Tuesday evening, shouting profanities at the former Colorado congressman, who tried to speak about his opposition to in-state tuition for unauthorized immigrants.

Tancredo left after a protester broke a window and police shut down the event. He had been invited by a student group that opposes mass immigration and multiculturalism.

No surprise- students are intolerant of free speech that disagrees with their point of view. It’s what they’ve been learning from their teachers and professors for years.Free speech is only what the Marxists decide it is and deviation will be punished by Stalin.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Capricorn

Mercury retrograde in your sign will cause some friction between you and other people during coming weeks. Matters that have been bubbling away in the background will come to the boil, forcing you to do something about them. Try not to overreact, nor to create a crisis out of something that's really very minor. You should also keep a strong sense of fair play and pay attention to every little detail.
