As far as his name goes, he introduced himself to me, but I do not remember his name. I know it's sad that a man's whole life can be summed up by whether we remember his name. I do know that he had not been living there very long.

As far as moving here from Kentucky, with farm animals, I wish you all the luck in the world with that. Land is so expensive here, and building restrictions and such are so tight. But, it has been done a time or two before, hasn't it? If you do make it here, stop in to the Smokehouse and have an Ultimate Tuna Sandwich and let me know it's you!

BTW our little smokehouse (Ruddell's) is in the September issue of Sunset magazine, if you've got a copy, bring it by, cause we can't find one, lol!

robert creeped me out, he obviously had problems. he'd be up all night long opening doors at schooners and taking shit out of the storage rooms and placing it on his porch. he never talked, the only time he talked to me was when he asked for my name and how old i was. out of nowhere. he'd constantly look inside my moms windows and when we'd catch him hed start running of. i was very nervous for my mom when he lived next door to her in the schooners apartments. i wasnt suprised when i heard he hung himself. he was deeply troubled

There is a vicious cycle when depressed and lonely people act strangely, causing other people to avoid them, which makes the person even more lonely, depressed, and outside of socially normal behavior. I've thought that small towns would be friendlier than a big city, because in a place like Cayucos, you wind up meeting almost everyone, and seeing many people every day. I guess there are exceptions, like this fellow.

My wife and I stayed in Cayucos last Nov. for our anniversary. We loved it! Very sad to hear about the recent tragedies. In a small community such as yours, these type of occurrences have a much more palpable impact. That said, we will be coming back as soon as possible. Is there a nice place to stay that is affordably priced? We looked into staying at the Cass house (no relation) but could not afford it. We heard the food was really good. We have bought smoked fish on two separate occasions from Ruddle's? and recommend it to anyone that tells us they will be passing through. PS, the saloon is a fun place to forget about troubles, if only for a little while. We hope you all have a wonderful fall/winter.
Cheers! the Cass' from Fullerton.
