I was leaving my daughter's school when the shot's were fired. We were on the side walk. I've never been in the middle of gun fire before. Every day I pass this house I see the gang memebrs sitting on the front lawn. Police need to crack down on these gangs and get them off our streets. Especially away from our school and day cares. My daughter has talked of nothing else but this shooting. I just hope they catch the guy who shot this kid and put him away for life. This happened in daylight...we never know when things like this will happen. we all need to be more aware of our surroundings.

My son attends the preschool 2 doors away from where the shooting occured. Shots were heard by all of the children there, and it was very scary for them. There were tons of police there within minutes. They did a wonderful job of protecting the children there.

Me and my daughter were on the sidewalk walking to our car when the shots were fired. We were so close to this shooting. It happened in day light. We never know when these kind of things are going to happen. The police need to crack down on gang activity in san pedro...everywhere for that matter. Every day when i go to pick up my daughter from school i see the gang memebers hanging out on the lawn of this house. Its too close to my daughters school. Im worried that more shootings will happen at this house, especially since there has been no arrest. Law enforcement needs to wake up and help us out. Stop setting drivers up with 6ft tall bunny rabbits crossing intersections trying to give everyone tickets and do your real jobs and get these guns and gangs off the streets.

My son goes to school right down the street from where this happened. He heard the gun shots. He is now afraid to go to school in fear of the guns. These gang members really need to be cracked down on. Come on now, right next to a school. What kind of morals do these thugs have? It's pretty upsetting, that my 4-year-old is now afraid of school, the one place he is supposed to feel safe at, because of this stuff.

Now a days things happen day or night i just hope they catch the person who did it? Thank god nothing happened to the children atending the preschool ... My prayers go out to the boys family and friends!!! God bless!!!

I hope this will be a wake up call to Janice Hahn that something really needs to be done about the homeland terriorist we have in our own city. These "gangbanger" or wanna be gangbangers need to be dealt with before things get worse.
If you look at the crime reports listed on Thurs, you'll see that there are alot of shot fired, aggravated assults, break in, & robberies happening in out town. All that, plus the graffiti, it's hard to think that things will ever get better.
I hope so, but I'm doubtful.

They do not have a right to a car to drive by in and shoot at people to initiate themselves into their punky gangs. WHY WHY WHY...unless im uneducated...was this child taken to Harbor UCLA down the fwy for medical care when the shooting took place blocks from San Pedro Hospital??? As tragic as this all is, if he was in a gang or had gang ties, he was at risk. This is all so unfortunate. And I think the preschool needs to contact Harbor Division to ask counselors to come talk with the kids to help them with any fear or anxiety over the shooting.

Then move your child out of day care two doors down from a gang house.

Hmmm, at about the same time me and my homies was chillin here in PV, kickin back with a few Smart Waters, watching the pretty lady on her horse while our kids played soccer on the rolling green lawns of our local park, thinking of our next BBQ at the Kramer Club and wondering just how far the stock market will drop. I work for the los angeles Unified School District. With the counseling division. i see these kind of things happening every day. All my daughter has been talking about is this shooting. She was worried to even go back to school today at this day care that is only a few feet from the shooting. She woke up this morning asking if there were gonna be more shots fired today. Because this day care is not affiliated with LAUSD our crisis team cannot provide services for them but i know the director of the preschool well and she has said that they will talk to the children that were there during the shooting. If there are any LCSW'S or MSW's reading these post it would be nice if you'd volunteer an hour or two of your time to go n speak with our kids. They do need help in dealing with this trauma.
