THE RIGHT TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE METH PROBLEM IN ANY TOWN IS NOW!! LET'S USE THIS HORRIBLE INCIDENT AS A WAY TO LEARN AND MAKE OURSELVES BETTER. I'VE LIVED THE LIFE, HELL I'VE LIVED THE LIFE WITH JODY, THERE IS A WAY OUT. I HAD TO LEARN TO LOVE MYSELF, AND MY FAMILY MORE THAN I LOVE THE DOPE. IT'S NOT EASY, BUT WITH SUPPORT AND THE RIGHT TOOLS, I TRULY BELIEVE A DOPE ADDICT CAN RECOVER. I CAN'T CHANGE EVERYONE, BUT I STARTED WITH MYSELF. I AM RAISING MY CHILDREN IN KING CITY (BY CHOICE)AND I AM ASHAMED TO SAY THAT I DO NOT GIVE BACK TO MY COMMUNITY THE KNOWLEDGE FROM MY RECOVERY, AND FOR THAT...I TOO AM PART OF THE METH PROBLEM.

I agree with you fishgirl. I've also lived that life with Jody and you can get away from it if you want to, but you have to be ready to let it go and you need the support.I am so sorry for Mikes family, but the town can't just sit back and let this stuff keep happening. If no one makes a stand it's never going to change. All King City is and might always be is older people, druggies, and rich farmers. Everyone in that town needs to pull there heads out of the sand and start helping those who need it. Everyone sits back and complains about the situation, but no one is willing to help the ones who need help. Everyone in that town needs get off there high horse and pull the community back together again.

IT IS TERRIBLE TO SEE ALL WHOM ARE INVOLVED HURTING. AT THAT I BELIEVE ALL ARE INVOLVED. WE ALL LIVE IN KC AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS SO FORTH WE ALL ARE AFFECTED BY THE EVERYDAY HAPPENINGS. TO CHANGE ONES BAD HABITS NEEDS TO BE DONE BY THAT PERSON. THEY HAVE TO WANT TO CHANGE. HOW IS IT THAT WE CAN HELP ONES THAT DO WANT THE CHANGE. PULLING TOGETHER IS THE CORRECT IDEA. SO LET'S START NOW. FIND THE RESOURCES THAT WE NEED TO HELP THE ONES HOOKED ON WHATEVER IT IS THAT THEY ARE HOOKED ON. AND SUPPORT THE ONES AFFECTED BY THE TRAGIC HAPPENINGS OF PEOPLE USING DOPE.

ALL I SEE HERE IS THE BACK AND FORTH WHAT YOU ALL THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT SITUATIONS THAT YOU'VE NEVER BEEN IN NOR WILL EVER BE INVOLVED IN. OPINIONS MATTER. BUT WHAT HAS HAPPENED HAS HAPPENED. JODY ELZEY WILL BE THE ONE TO LIVE WITH WHAT HE DID WITH A CLEAR MIND NOW FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. I KNOW THAT THE PUBLIC IS SHOCKED, HURT, AND WANT ANSWERS. BUT NO ONE DESERVES MORE THAN BOTH FAMILIES TO KNOW THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THAT. AND THAT WILL IN TIME COME FROM JODY. NOT THAT IT WILL MATTER TO MIKES LOVED ONES. BUT THE POINT BEING IS THAT LETS LET THE FAMILIES GREAVE IN PEACE. ALL OF THIS IS IN THEIR FACE. THEY DON'T NEED TO HEAR THE PUBLICS POINT OF VIEW. THEY ALREADY KNOW WHAT EVERYONE IS THINKING. AS THEY HAVE HAD TO LIVE WITH THE TRUTH OF BOTH MENS WAYS OF LIVING FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW. IT MAKES THE SITUATION HURT JUST THAT MUCH MORE. ALL OF THESE BLOGS, COMMENTS, AND OPINIONATED SITES NEED TO LAY OFF. LEAVE IT TO THE NEWS TO OFFER UP THE INFORMATION THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW. AND THAT IS ALL WE NEED TO KNOW. THE TRUTH.

If you want the meth gone, do something. Get involved. Parents know what they need to do, I don't need to repeat that, but if you want the drugs gone..talk to the police. Ask them what to look for. Cars coming and going all day, suspicious behavior, etc. Ask for a community meeting and work with law enforcement. Put up a united front.

I am related to and met Jody when he was a youngster, he was a good kid albeit a little spoiled. But he was not homocidal or mean...it was the meth IMO that drove him to do it. I was addicted bad for about 7 years and it's only by the grace of god I never hurt myself or others (at least physically). But I did come close a few times and it was always other meth heads I came close to hurting. Take the volatile and paranoid state of mind meth puts a person in, then subject that same person to the selfishness, coniving and backstabbing of another meth head (who would think nothing of stealing from you, ratting you out or screwing your mate) and it's a recipe for disaster. It's a wonder all meth heads don't kill each other, and some; believe it or not would deserve it.

My God!I am amazed! I just stumbled on to this site and find it strangely interesting(so far). well we moved to king city when I was 11. And after years of living on military bases where we played on base with kids that were every color of the sun, rode our bikes until dark during the summers, and swam in the camp pools and we ran wild (so to speak)but all the families watched each others kids. There was absolutely NO dope, NO booze, and we were ALL friends.Dad retired and in 2 weeks we were in king city. It was horrible! We knew no one ,everyone gossiped about everyone else, there were certain clicks and NO ONE was allowed in.The rich, the farmers, the business people. The (what I called the in-betweeners),that was us, and the mex-americans ,and the mexicans which were all braceros that worked in the fields
and went home during christmas. There were those awful horrible cops that were so crooked they were scary! I had friends that were beaten by them and yet it was kept quiet because there was nothing you could do about it.Of course in true fashion ,the rich kids, spoiled brats that got away with everything, small town in it's truest payton place form.Almost everyone just smoked pot here and there ,on weekends etc.Around the late 80s I noticed people started with extra strength speed , then heroin, then here comes meth.I saw so many fall to heroin, but now it's meth.Who do you point the finger at? To me, when I analize something, I start with the end result and work my way back.the addict,a situation, the stupid descision to "try it" just once, the dealer, and the end the supplier. The supplier in this state is our good old friends south of the border, most of it, how do we stop it at all of our borders? Any ideas? How can we stop it if we can't even stop the illegals and those killer cartels that run that chicken-shit goverment !Remember Hurricane Katrina? thousands of drug addicts trying to stay afloat and survive and going cold turkey, which may have accounted for all that violence. But making it harder and harder to get and finally sqeezing it out might work, who knows.

I hadn't seen this forum until today. I grew up in kc around Mike and Jody. They faught off and on all thru the years. Did they ever hit each other? The drugs did not do any good, but there are alot of ppl on meth in kc and they all seem to get the concept that you cannot park on a human being. It has been almost 2 years since I lost my friend Mikey. Jody will be out before we know it. But I wonder what really went on to bring Jody to this. He is responsible for his own actions. A love crime? Maybe for those who want to play pretend and ignore the truths. Love for his wife? How many children in kc, without a daddy, are Jody's? How many possibilities. Come on. Those who knew Jody, knew Jody. Something else fed his mind to do this. Over the years, when Mikey and Jody had problems, they ended as quick as they began. I hear there were things Jody did to lead up to this, in preparation, to kill Mikey. It sounded like he may have had some advice on what to do. And maybe what he needed to get Mikey to do for it to be in Mikeys record. If that is the case, then the blame needs to be shared with Jodys accomplice. It sounded to me like someone who knew about the laws and the court processes. I don't know. Maybe I am just too high and letting my thoughts get away with me. But maybe no. Maybe I lived the life in kc and if you know the streets, you know the crooked ways of the town. My heart goes out to Mikeys family. I even feel for Jodys parents. But they created him, they made him who he is and they enable him. They should have told hiom along time ago, no. But they too, have to live with his ways. Maybe they should put some thought into some of Jodys other kids.
