Wow, so it took the LPD more than 12 years to solve this crime?? And only because of advances in DNA. So only 10 more years then before Kayla Reed's murder is solved!

Wow. I'm in total shock right now. I lived in the building in front of the victims during the months of March, April, and May that year while our house was finished being built. I had an 18month old baby at the time. That morning my son and I left the apartments to go to playgroup and do some shopping. I saw a bunch of police cars, police and people all over. I thought maybe a car accident, fender bender, and I kept going. I did think that there were an awful lot of police there for just an accident.

Late that afternoon, my husband and I were driving in when I saw the coroner's van. I don't know why, but I stopped the car and froze right away and said to my husband, " I hope this is a heart attack or something and not a murder". My husband said I was nuts, but a policeman approached our window and asked if we lived there, we said yes, he said why (no shit). I explained about the house being built and then acknowledged that he probably couldn't tell me anything, but I had a baby and I needed to know if this was a murder. The officer stared at my husband and I for a moment. I knew that was bad. Then he asked which apartment we lived in exactly (address he wrote down), asked if we were home the night before and when we said yes he asked if we had heard anything unusual. We said no and he said that he or another officer would be by soon to take a statement. I said to him "it was murder then?" "yes" he said, but we think it was a domestic violence type situation, but you should move out quickly.

I am shocked right now because it was not a domestic violence thing. He raped and killed a female who lived in the apartment a short hop from mine. I had a weird feeling living their from the beginning. Kinda scared, we were on the first floor and I felt like someone could get in easily. I did end up going to my Mom's home out of state until the house was finished in June after the murder. Yikes........That is way too close for comfort.

PS... the police did come by and take a statement, but unfortunately we had not heard or seen anything and could not help.

My prayers go to the families.

Not everyone's DNA is automatically on file...Otherwise, it probably would have been easier..

Your an idiot. The LPD had known that the man who was accuessed did it all along. Thanks to our mangnificent court system which dosnt believ in common sense wouldnt let LPD prosuccute until more evidence was found. If there was DNA nack then he could have been arrested. Not only LPD but the same with SFPD and the zodiac killer. They knew who theere man was just like LPD but couldnt prosecute due to not enough evidence. If they had DNA in 65' and 95' these killers woould have been brought in long ago. id like to see one of you attempt to investigate a homocide, youd probably all vomit at the crime seen first lok at the body.

I will tell you when I was a kid I was in trouble allot and hated the police then manned up for my responsibilities and grew up and realized that there job is not easy so I know have much respect for them sure you might have a bad apple in the bunch some time's but if you where to compare them to us they have way less bad apples!!!!!!!!!! so to LPD you keep up the good work some times it takes time for them to make a case one little mistake and they get off clean free

Where is the news article on this story? I tried to look it up and it just says it's not available. I also tried the archive search - as they suggested - and didn't come up with anything.

I need to set the records straight, The Livermore police DO NOT have the person in custody. that person is alive and well in another city. It is to bad that this scum hasn't been arrested for good. contact OPD "they know where he is" but won't arrest him.
call the police department!!! he is on 32nd Street in Oakland.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Leo

Despite the festivities, something is nagging away at the back of your mind and you won't feel happy until you've done something about it. Do your best to tackle it over the next three weeks while it will benefit from the influence of Mercury backtracking through your sixth house. Your daily routine is filled with an increasing number of details, messages, and information, much of which will be confusing. All you can do is change your attitude to whatever is worrying you.
