Yeah, Hitler felt the same way about the disabled.

This absolutely is a thankless job. This man should be recognized and applauded for his commitment to his child.
However, my unpopular view, for which I expect flack......
This "child" is a drain on society. His entire life has been spent without quality. He has collected SSI, from a fund that this type of payment was never meant to come from. You can argue that his father has paid in. Yes. But this is for the fathers retirement, NOT for his helpless child that will never, ever be able to contribute anything to society. Nothing.
This father IS dependent upon money that is recieved because his child is disabled. Right? Wrong? I don't know.
Can anybody say Euthenasia? At birth.
We, human beings, are the only members of the animal kingdom that promote survival of the weakest. We do everything possible to maintain life, even when maybe we shouldn't. These "children", whether adult or minors, are an absolute drain upon society as a whole. They get SSI from birth, require extensive and expensive medical care, which is ongoing. How may surgeries have we paid for, as taxpayers, for this "child"? How many more years will this "child" continue to collect SSI from our funds which are dwindling to nothing?
Maybe the mother should be helping. But at least she knew her limitations early on and stepped out of the picture.
Again, I do applaud this father. This is a thankless 24/7 job and somebody has to do it. But SHOULD it be done?
Tell me, what would YOU do if you had a newborn baby born with disabilities? NO ONE can truly understand the plight of a parent in this situation unless it has happen to them. You are cold, heartless, and callused. You suggest EUTHANASIA? Perhaps you should have been euthanized at birth....your "disability"? You have NO HEART.

I'm appalled at this topic being used as a forum for political discussion, first of all. My father has given his life for my brother, & deserves the kindest of words. The stress & sorrow of his & my brother's situation has literally taken his life. My father William Arthur Conway passed away on sunday evening. Can we please put an end to the personal attacks on Joshua's mother ? There is no need for such judgement & negativity.

I had heard earlier this afternoon about your loss Brian. Please accept my condolences. Many folks just don't get how hard it is to give 24/7/365 care and the stress it takes on you. I had the pleasure of making his acquaintance last December. May he rest in peace.

I shed tears for a man/father I've never had the pleasure of meeting. What a great man he was!! May his loved ones find comfort in the memories.

My husband is the owner of the home Bill rented and never said he would evict him but worked out arrangements with Bill which are personal but did not involved any plan for eviction, and yes my husband only owns that one home in California and never went up on Bills rent from day one and as we have a disabled son we know Bills sacrafrices and considered him a friend not a tenant., so..think before you critiize what you do not know for truth. Sorry about Bills loss and our prayers to the family,

Though I carried the unpopular view, I do want to express my condolances to the family. Both for the loss of the father as well as the ultimate outcome for the child.
This is the difficult part of being a parent to a disabled child. Making decisions and the consequences of what happens after the death or disablement of the parent.
It's sad all the way around. And though I have expressed my personal options, which are not popular either personally or politically, I do have a heart and feel very, very sorry for the entire family.
This has been a thankless job, though necessary. And it is these people, the parents of these children, who suffer and go somewhat unnoticed in society and often times live unseen lives.
I pray that you will find peace and I also pray for the very best possible outcome regarding the care of a disabled person.
