All those glossy fliers. That fancy office with all the expensive posters and campaign signs. All that money Vulcan is spending. They're doing it so they can restrict themselves? Ha, who do you think you're fooling? Let's VOTE NO on Measure A and stop Vulcan's Canyon City Alliance from expanding mining operations in our mountains!

No kidding? That is why we are voting YES on Measure A. It PHASES OUT mining for good and ends in 2038. If you vote No it will allow Vulcan to keep mining as usual.

Development Agreement (MEASURE A)

Section 6.1:
Term and Termination:
"This Agreement shall commence upon the effective date, and continue in full force and effect until December 31, 2038 UNLESS EXTENDED or terminated earlier as provided herein. Upon expiration of terms of this Agreement, this agreement MAY BE EXTENDED under such terms and conditions as the parties hereto may mutually agree."

Measure A allows the mining agreement to be EXTENDED.

It does NOT phase it out "for good" what so ever.

And I'm accused of twisting facts....

Youre a loaner, unliked, ugly person who only cares about saving your own financial interest off other peoples back. If you really cared about peoples health and way of living, you would fight the destruction of another mountain. Instead, all you care about is the promise to reclaim the hillside nearest to your house and to stop the mining from going towards you. Thats all you care about, you dont care about the schools in Azusa and Duarte that will be effected by this expansion. You dont care about anyone or anything except YOU! Youre a selfish B!
Save your children from Vulcan and its dangerous airborne silica
Save your way of living
Stand up to greed and say NO to Vulcan
Let your voice be heard now or forever regret not stopping the destruction of what no man will ever be able to restore to its natural beauty... YOUR MOUNTAINS!
Dont let Vulcan fool you into believing they can duplicate Gods creation and natural beauty of these mountains. Money talks and they will lie their hearts out to make you believe they can do better or just as good in bringing these mountains back to their original beauty!
Vote NO on Measure A
You define hypocrisy!...and where are your facts about peoples health, dirtbag!...The EIR for mining the west shows no "air quality" risks! The SCAQMD has also found that Vulcan does
not contribute negatively to the air quality!

On the contrary, if mining continues east, the Azusa residents have no luxury of an EIR like you Duarte residents do!

But you could care less...! Both AAME and Duarte residents like yourself are content with keeping the mining on the east, thereby destroying the "east" mountain and risking the safety of Azusa residents.

So in fact, it is you who should look in the mirror and find yourself ugly and unliked...

But the most important point about the end date of 2038 that you hide is the fact that Vulcan is giving up their rights to the mining after 2038...

Development Agreement
Section 2.15 Termination of Mining in 2038.

...Vulcan represents and warrants that Vulcan shall cease all mining operations and activities in the City of Azusa on or before December 31, 2038...

AAME quotes from the DA and Vulcan's "Canyon City Alliance(AtoZ)" spouts a sales pitch. Vulcan's lackeys go so far as pretend to fight themselves. Vulcan is NOT going to restrict itself. Only our NO vote on Measure A will stop the mining expansion.

You have failed to quote the entire paragraph.

Development Agreement

Section 2.15 Termination of Mining in 2038.
NOT WITHSTANDING ANYTHING CONTRARY SET FORTH HEREIN, in consideration of the City entering into this agreement and the rights granted hereunder, Vulcan represents and warrants that Vulcan shall cease all mining operations and activities in the City of Azusa on or before December 31, 2038, however that this requirement shall not apply to operations regarding the Reliance facility.

Something is contrary set forth herein. This clause:

Development Agreement (MEASURE A)

Section 6.1:
Term and Termination:
"This Agreement shall commence upon the effective date, and continue in full force and effect until December 31, 2038 UNLESS EXTENDED or terminated earlier as provided herein. Upon expiration of terms of this Agreement, this agreement MAY BE EXTENDED under such terms and conditions as the parties hereto may mutually agree."

How's that for "hiding facts"?

But, not quoted in it's entirety. Just enough to suit your cause, just enough to mislead, just enough to twist the meaning to propagate misinformation, as usual.

So, there might be an end to the mining in 2038, "...unless the two sides agree" otherwise.
What two sides? The "two sides" are on the same side against the wishes of the residents that live around the mine. How in the hell are these "sides" going to regulate themselves? The only way to stop the expansion of the mining is to vote NO on Measure A. Say NO to Vulcan's Canyon City Alliance. Not only NO, but HELL NO.

So, best possible scenario is that the wording is contradictory, it can be interpreted many ways, thus the courts can interpret it many ways.

The clause ALLOWING extension of the mining should have been DELETED from the Agreement PRIOR to it being approved.

The Development Agreement is BADLY WRITTEN and should NEVER have been approved.

BUT, that can be easily remedied by the Citizens of Azusa not approving it at the ballot box by voting NO on MEASURE A.

You are twisting the facts once again...!!!
The extension, if awarded, will be by the city of Azusa...and does not in any way mean Vulcan can self-extend their contract... especially considering that Vulcan has recognized that it will cease mining after 2038...

Majority of the naysayers that are knit-picking the DA now for the possibility of an extension after 2038 are merely Vulcan haters...

Therein that hate makes 'em not see the reality or other positive reasons for what they might be!

The possibilty of an extension is clearly in the hands of the city of Azusa and can prove effective, for example, to force Vulcan to finish off or correct any reclamation that city of Azusa finds unsatisfactory...

What if it's geologically impossible for them to do so, they pay their fine and continue as usual after submitting a much less grand reclamation plan, as they are allowed to do in Measure A?

In 2038, will the mining Company then come up with a new "magical" reclamation technique and say they only way they can afford to use it is by extending their mining date past 2038?

And will the City then say, "We need this new technique to restore our mountains, we have to let them extend it, but THIS time we will FIGHT the mining Company and DEMAND a better reclamation and an ABSOLUTE end date to the mining!"

Oh and if anyone wants to see what a collapsed mine and landslide looks like, go to Corona and look at the gravel mine there. Get off the I15 @ Magnolia Ave and look to the left. It all was Mayan Steps (I guess they were reclaiming the area) until the end of last week. Friday there was no structure whatsoever, just a slide of rocks.

AtoZ, I noticed you have two locations under the name AtoZ. One under West Covina and another under Monrovia. Are you trying to make multiple accounts so that it looks like theres more of you supporting Measure A? It would be wise to at least change the name so it wouldnt be so obvious or maybe you forgot to do so huh? ooops!

Maybe it's a new type of reclamation like microbenching? The Landslide Reclamation Technique.
