Full story: KASA-TV Albuquerque

Sounds more like gold diggers than those interested in civil rights. I'm sure that Attorneys are looking at this with $ signs in their eyes and urging others on to that end.

If the families of those gang members would spend as much time trying to straighten them out and get them off drugs, rape and other gang activity I am sure there would be a lot less problems with the police.

But they want to blame the police when their bad sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles etc go bad.

What a was of time, always blame the cops, never the parents and whose responsibility was it to raise them properly?

Like blaming a teacher who fails to pass one of their little darlings because he or she skpped class or failed to do homework day in and day out.

The blame starts at HOME.

APD has lost so many cases, it's not the victim's fault. It has to do with bad parenting of the cops, not the hapless victim, and the settlements reflect that.

I don't totally agree with your statement, what about the cop who shots and kills someone because they pointed a gun at the cop, even if it was a gang member?

They complain because more of one race is bad and ends up dead or arrested than others so it's the cops fault?

Most know there are more Blacks and Mexicans in prisons, is that the cops fault too? because the criminal got caught and convicted?

I am not saying all ABQ cops are good and I will admit there are some bad ones who should be gone but it seems that the state board that holds hearings on what to do with those cops is stalling or doing nothing.

Worst is most bad cops are asked to resign for one reason, they can get another job as a cop elsewhere, if fired that makes it much harder to become a cop in another city.

And this damn paid leave for any government employee while they "investigate" him or her is nothing more than a free ride, if put on leave put the money in a trust, if they win give them the money, if they lose to bad, money goes back to the kitty.

Ever wonder how many of those whining are illegals or related to one, maybe the one shot?

If you have a city full of crazy violent beaners you are going to have more crime. The cops are trying to control the violent hispanics. Sometimes you get hurt when you break the law. Get these violent hispanics under control.

From a white guy here, let me clue you in that it's not just Hispanics who are doing the crimes here. Crime doesn't know ethnic boundaries, scum is scum. Its not gender or race driven.

Was it Tera Chavez's fault that her cop husband shot her and APD tried to cover it up? What do the police have to hide? If they aren't guilty of anything they have nothing to worry about, right?

We all know how he called in his buddies to mess up the crime scene so it would be hard to prove he killed her.

Cops do get away with things as they know how to cover up the crime.

I hope Chavez gets put into the general population and word is let out he was a cop, he won't last a week which is more than he deserves.

Look whose talking, one from a city that at one time was full of Mexicans and unless I am wrong all those tract homes just south of the 60 where the dairies used to be have many Mexican Americans living there.

Do you call them such a degrading name and are any your neighbors?

If you must use racist names use one on yourself and I bet there is one, we all have either a religious or nationality that comes with derogatory names.

And it is people like you that help breed prejudice.

Please don't forget that you are basing "pointing a gun at a cop" on what Albuquerque cops say. A good number of them have been found to not have been telling the truth; the millions that the City of Albuquerque pays out each year to settle APD misconduct are not all due to police shootings; some of them are due to their beating up VICTIMS of crime; arresting people on a dare as a joke-as in the case of that poor Sunport employee, who was a German-American BTW; beating up and arresting DEAF PEOPLE who were trying to communicate with the cops only to have them say that the DEAF PERSON was using "aggressive and combative hand gestures" etc. There's a mentality at work here of beat the crap out of them or kill them first and worry about the consequences later.
People that are THAT afraid of getting hurt shouldn't be police officers. And before you say it, YEAH, I was one, bucko. In Colorado in the 1980s. I've been involved in my share of assaults, even one with a guy with a knife, and never had to shoot or kill anybody. Problem is, in Albuquerque the sidearm is the tool of choice in conflict resolution by all bad guys, in and out of uniform.

I fully support these civil rights activists pressing for a federal investigation into the APD. While there are some fantastic cops in this city, they are only a handful. The rest are scum. We only see these horrible cops on the news, in newspapers, and forums.

Now about the 14 shootings of 2010. While I am not too familiar with all 14 shootings in ABQ in 2010, I lived nextdoor to one of those shootings on Halloween.

What the news reported was a big lie. The news reported the victim to be dangerous and then charge after the police with a gun, when in reality he had no firearms and was non-threatening.

After the cops shot the victim with an assault rifle, he was on the ground moaning loudly in pain while the officer stood in front of him aiming his assault rifle on him as if the victim was going to stand up and fight him. The APD were so secretive about the whole thing and refused to inform the neighborhood about the situation.

So yes, i have seen (and read) about the corruption of the Albuquerque Police Department and fully support a federal investigation.

How many of those shot are gang members and illegals and felons?
How many are honest citizens that just happened to be shot by the cop?

To often the wrong people complain because they are already in violation of our laws.

It never stops, those do gooder groups who demand things that if they obey the law would not have been shot to begin with.

Let us see the real numbers of gang members and others who were shot?

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aries

It won't be long before you start to feel bored today, unless you can distract yourself - you're switching from one activity to another. Ideally, you should keep yourself amused by doing something that's unusual or challenging, otherwise you'll be tempted to stir up trouble just to see what happens next! Even though you know that's a bad idea, you won't be able to resist, unless you've got something better to do with your time.
