I was at a pond years ago that we would dive from. I aways checked it by mask and snorkel just so we would be safe. I taught my kids to do the same.
So many macho Mexican guys would show up and jump from the top to show us "white boys" how to do the accapu-loco dive and eat the bottom. How many generations will this happen to? Darwinism is at work.

Darwinism is at work. We're not even sure that this young man died from the jump. He reportedly swam out of the water, and walked up onto the rocks. Tough to say.....we "white boys" should also be sensitive to the family members here reading this.

Sarah wrote: Hmmm.. ignorant people.. this place, that you obviously have not been too is a beautiful oasis. Yes, they are deep enough to dive into. And since I know him and have loved him he was not fat enough to have been to heavy either. He was a good man with a kind heart... he taught me a lot about a few things and gave me a different perspective. He was loved and will be missed. Sorry that you lost your friend. I have hiked this area frequently. My friend used to own the pack station and I once even rode a horse through there as part of a mule train. It is beautiful, but challenging terrain. There are places where very experienced hikers have died from just slipping off of the trail and falling to their death. The terrain (including the bottoms of pools of water) is constantly changing. I would hope that people might hear about this accident and think twice before jumping off of a 25 ft. cliff into whatever. You may clear the rocks and land in a part of the water that is deep enough, but you might also hit something on the way down or slam into a rock that may have shifted a few feet over since the last time your were there. It's not worth the risk. If guys want to jump that far, they should go to the Aquatic Center and jump off of the high dive. May your friend have found peace.

David is my brother and I did not appreciate the emotionally retarded tone by the use of the Darwinian reference (survival of the fittest) especially in light of the fact that his death has no definitive cause at this time. Get it? He's my brother. My whole family is devastated. Walk in those shoes before considering the use of sarcastic or cynical statements about someone you know nothing about. RD you dont know me i have been trying to contact david fetui and im sorry for your loss and hoping this is not the david fetui i am looking for, i live in oklahoma and would love to speak with you because if i have the right david then this would concern u also if u are his brother, my name is shelley loesch im not sure how to tell u to contact me except try facebook
