Fatal accident reported above Glendora

I got there at 4:30 pm. I was the first one there. I called down and heard voices. One female yelled back. When I asked how many were down there she replied three. I could not see the vehicle or the victims. I had no cell service so I had to ride my motorcycle down the hill to get help. Help came quickly, they were in the area doing exercises. The search and rescue team verified that there were three occupants. The car was damaged such that the jaws of life were needed to extract the victims. An LA county fire Dept helicopter was on scene within minutes but the terrain prevented access via helicopter. I left the scene at 7:30 pm at which point none of the victims were brought up yet. It was very difficult terrain to access, everything had to be rappelled down. I didn't see them go over but based on the skid marks the vehicle must have been traveling at a very high rate. Can anyone give me an update on the girls? I have been praying for them ever since.

Stan, I was one of three who recovered the vehicle the following day. You did a great job and if it wasn't for you stopping to render help the surviving girls may have never been helped-or found because of the dense brush and vegetation. The vehicle was well over 600' into the canyon below. The terrain was steep and very narrow. It was a very unfortunate accident. I could only imagine the pure terror of those involved in the accident as they plunged to the canyon below.

Stan: I am the Father of one of the surviving girls in the accident and on behalf of my entire family, and my daughter, and for all of the girls, thank you for your prayers and for being their guardian angel that day. In talking with the rescuers and my daughter, had you not stopped, they may never have been found. My daughter was best friends with Mary, who passed in her arms. While physically she will mend, I can only pray that she will emotionally recover. Words cannot express the gratitude for the action you took. For you to be in the right place, the rescuers already in the area, saved lives. You are our hero.

Bill, Our entire mountain recovery team and all of our employees at Jan's Towing, Azusa wish to send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the girls and the families and friends. We wish the girls a speedy recovery and time to heal physically but more importantly emotionally. I can assure you that there were some gracious angels watching over us all during this unfortunate incident. I have children of my own and can only imagine receiving the notification of such an accident from law enforcement. Again, our heartfelt condolences and prayers.
