the city should follow state law in creating any ordinance."why would zoning which is used to create fees due for types of land use be used to restrict an activity the state says is o.k.

Because federal law trumps state law and until that matter is settled, the City and County are correct in their actions. Regardless of which side you are on regarding medical marijuana, that fact that it is still a federal offense needs to be considered by the local governments.

Time to vote these uncompassionate lowlifes out of office and replace them with people who will respect the wishes and need's of the people who are not able to drive to another area of the state to aquire their med's .It may also be a good idea to start looking into some of these people's back grounds to make sure that they are not behind on their taxes or are involved in any conflict of intrest while working for the city. Also maybe take a look into theri personel lives and see if any are having affairs or if they patronize some of the working girls in the area. Most people involved in politics even on a local level have something to hide. Maybe it's time to shine a lil light on them

Let's allow some San Franciscans to waste the city's money with a lawsuit because what should be a private matter for patients in their own homes, is the demand to freely "party hardy". Should I sue since I can't have an opium den in town? Even proclaimed "patients" admit that they are using more than they need medicinally for recreation. They claim there is nothing wrong with using it for recreation, even though it has been proven to damage developing brain cells in embryos of pregnant women, children, teens and young adults.(Scientific American Sept 2009)
We have real issues that have to be addressed in our society. We have a 500% increase in Autism, we have an increase in all kinds of weird disorders. We have unregulated chemicals poisoning the water and foods. We have an incarceration rate of 1 in 100 people. We have inadequate mental health care and medical care. We have chromosomal and epigenetic damage occurring to our population. We are losing the intellectual and production capacity that we once had in the world. We are losing our value in the world. We rank 30th in newborn health. We rank even lower now in education. In High School the scores are actually dropping. But some people, all they want is their "bud". They want freedom to get stoned, zombified, high and wasted. I don't care how slick their flyers and adds, or how seductive their excuses. I think the real ploy behind this is the desire to make money. Remember, it is still against Federal law, and they can decide to prosecute at any time. Imagine the disruption of that.

A large turnout at the meeting will encourage the city to lift the ban.

Yes, and General Johnson Jameson believes in a limited nuclear strike on poor people in a faraway land to destroy poppies, because we have a problem with our mental health and drug abuse and misuse. Yes, if Marijuana becomes legal, then Poppies will be the next crop in our national forests. Is that why you want the nuclear strike?

Note that I stated 'limited' which means simply a surgical strike using low-yield nuclear warheads. Not only would we stop heroin production right now but would prevent it from starting again later as the poppy fields would be radioactive for the next 50,000 years.

Without the millions of dollars in drug sales to keep the Taliban and Alkida operations funded they would quickly dissolve and the flow of heroin into the United States would all but stop.

Pesticide illness, you hit the nail on the head! It's all about the money, TAX FREE MONEY. Cal Norml is a non profit organization. Hell Bent is motortcyle "organization" in the tradition of the Hell's Angels. They have invested in 3 Butte County dispenseries. They also supply the pot sold at the dispenseries. They have applied for permits to dispense in Tehama County but no luck yet.

Small town with big problems. Enjoy going to court, when your county needs money not more problems.Sounds like they made up there mine way before they announce it to the people. When meth, alcohol, pills and so forth as not been stop they pick on good people trying to make a living.Sonoma county as led the way co-ops are handle and that town is reaping the benifits of tax dollars well needed. Later time to medicate.

General Johnson Jameson, your lack of compassion is like the Taliban's. The Taliban, by the way are heavy marijuana users. Thank you, Woodbutcher, for threatening our council. End justifies the means? Good people trying to make a living???? Give me a break. I knew some of those good people over time. Not so good when you look past the empty smiles and the lack of empathy the drug induces. Their families and communities pay the price. Any drug used socially and inappropriately, whether pot or alcohol or over the counter is destructive to our society. I notice that the more Pot comes out of the closet, the worse our society is doing in general. More crime, more child abuse, more neglect, fewer intelligent people creating jobs and industry.

Opium has a very narrow spectrum of medical use, do your homework!

I'd think twice before appearing in public at that meeting, too many whackos and fruit loops wandering around off their schizophrenia medication.

And get this, I've just learned that pot is the number one drug paranoid schizophrenics try to self-medicate with in order to reduce the voices in their head and the accompanying psychotic hallucinations that many are afflicted with.

Wow! Does pot not only cure cancer but mental illness too?

My cousin developed schizophrenia after being exposed to pot. He became so addicted and hungry for it he would do anything for a "hit". He died at the age of 35.

I used to be on the fence about it, but after watching people for all these years, I don't care to be around body snatched Pod people. They are so unaware of how altered they are by the plant they so adore.

I just have to call bs on your stories.Schizophrenia is not "induced"by thc.Mj simply, is not addictive.Schizophrenics do obsses on certain objects or people ,even delusions. In this case, it seems the object of obsession happened to be mj.I do not believe that it was what caused the condition.Perhaps if you had an objective and unbiased oppinion, you could see the error in your thinking.Blame the real issue not the green boogie man.:)

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Cancer

Someone dear to your heart isn't exactly a barrel of laughs today, are they? Is it your imagination or are they taking a perverse delight in spreading doom and gloom in all directions? If they've got good reason to be miserable then they deserve your sympathy, but even so it may not last for long. Try to keep active and cheerful, otherwise you'll also develop a tendency to brood.
