Irate?? No just amazed at the stupidity of some!! Why do so many people Vol?? Because they care. Because they have the calling. Because they support their families with a JOB and then live out their calling by being a vol!!!! Firefighting is not a hobby!!!! From what you have said I have figured out you are the person that uses the title firefighter for the discounts and for the recognition. If you have no interest after your shift you are not a true firefighter. Any REAL firefighter cannot drive past a wreck without stopping to see if they need help. Any REAL firefighter cannot turn their pager off when their 24 on is over. Any man can be a FATHER just as any woman can be a MOTHER, but it takes someone of the highest calibur to be a Firefighting Mommy or Daddy. It takes someone of that calibur to instill a sense of wonder and excitement in their child's eyes when they see a fire truck on the road with lights and sirens going. You are assuming that you have to be either a firefighter or a parent/spouse when in fact a real man wouldn't make that assumption. So the next time you want to ASSUME what someone is thinking make sure you remember to break it down ..... to ASSUME makes an A$$ out of U but not ME!!!!

dude it sounds like you have a problem when U CANNOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A JOB AND A FAMILY. FAMILY WELL BE HERE FOREVER IF U DON'T MESS IT UP i.e. TURN OFF A PAGER TAKE TIME TO WATCH YOUR KIDS GROW. A job ends with retirement or they kick you out becuase of age. Don't look back and said woulda coulda shoulda with your kids. womder why there is such a high divorce rate among firefighters because of attitudes like yours so take this advice as a gift instead of your B.S. reasoning. Its a job get over it.

DUDE (as you put it) I'm like so totally not a knarly surfer chick. I know what a job is and I know what being a full blooded firefighter is and they ARE NOT the same. Let's see my 17 y/o daughter loves being an explorer at our local station, and my significant other, who happens to be the Lieutenant here, supports both she and I implicitly in our endeavours. Oh and I guess my college degree is exanimate in this conversation according to your superior male chauvinistic attitude. I will disregard your opinion on the stipulation that you remain an occupant of sunny California where apparently there is never anything amiss. OH WAIT what did I get notification of tonight???? Another LODD in California, God Rest His Soul and my family's prayers are raised for the family of the fallen BROTHER. I guess people like you, Ken, and Dawn will have but yet another line of complaint over the show of honor and brotherhood for the fallen firefighter. Oh that's right you said it is just a job so I don't expect you to feel anything over this after all we don't get close to coworkers do we??? I feel the loss of a family member.

With all due respect your a MUTT. I'm 4th generation firefighter, 3 chiefs from NY and I'm a Lt. my self and find your comments to a sister firefighter offensive. It's not just a job as you put it. It's tradition to honor a fallen brother or sister for there service. I have 13 years as a career and volunteer so don't preach to me or anyone else. Your the type that if your neighbors house was on fire would do nothing because you were not on duty. Shame on you for even calling your self a firefighter because your not. A true firefighter works 24/7 not just there shift. Do not preach about family either because as a true firefighter you would know you that you a part of one of the biggest families in the would. RESPECT is all this is about. I have a question for you? since you are in California are you going to your brothers memorial? Or are you going to spend it with your other family? Family is important no doubt but your family sound understand if you've been in it as long as you say.

P.S. You need to check your spelling also.

You are a MUTT and nothing more. You and the other two are not worth the time or the effort. I bet your co-workers would think differently than you. If everyone in your department thinks like you. I'm glad I don't work in your department or live in your district. Maybe it's the fact you a fed ff.

BUH BYE you silly little fool, good riddance. Maybe you will find a new JOB that will allow you to profit from your ignorance and callousness. Get a grip on reality and learn opinions are like a&&hole$ everyone has one. Just because you think yours always smells like roses only means you are so used to having your head up there you don't know the difference. Do us all a favor and don't claim to be one of us.

FF's do their job for the money. If they did it for free, then that would be heroic. Quit thinking of yourselves as heroes if you CHOSE to do it FOR THE MONEY *and* because you probably had no chance in going to college and getting a REAL degree. But then again, you won't be hailed a hero if you got a real education!

Dear Joe,
Thank you very much for your comments. Of course you are speaking without any sense of what is real. I am a Fire Captain and I do have a "Real" degree. I have an Associates degree in Fire Science, a Bachelors degree in Public Administration and a second Bachelors degree in Biological Science. If you think that the only thing that makes a person a hero then I truly pitty you. Because you are now saying that the men and woman of our armed forces are not heroes no matter what they did or how they died because they are paid. Maybe you should contact your Senators and Congress Men and Woman and have them take back every medal that was given for bravery or distinguished service because they simply were paid to do a job. Maybe I am off the mark since I am just a dumb Fire Captain without a "real" education. But I think many out there would tend to agree with me. Joe one more question that I have for you... What type of education a degree do you have? Is it from Ronald MacDonald University? I understand if you dont reply right away it is almost lunch time and there are lots of burgers to flip!

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Sagittarius

You're feeling ultra optimistic today, which is great for summoning up the necessary energy to do what has to be done. But don't let it go to your head and convince you that you're capable of performing miracles. If you aren't behaving in this way you'll have to cope with someone who has a swollen head and thinks they're the cat's whiskers.
