He will be a great Sheriff. Andy Lopez can be depended on to make the changes necessary to improve the Sheriff's Office to the high standards it is capable of being.

I won 't vote for Amadeo Ortiz and his Chief Deputy Dan Gabehart. Those two are in bed together. It is corruption at it's best. Look at the Chicano Channel Magazine. Ortiz cut off their comments about him and Dan Gabehart. Free Speech was buried. RIP

Gilberto Rodriguez, incase you folks don't know, was fired as Sheriff by Medina county after assaulting a female co-worker who refused to put up with his bullying.

He is a power hungry and egotistic chauvinist, so it's came as little surprise to me that he currently works for.....guess who?.........AMADEO ORTIZ!!! Turns out he got hired by Ortiz as a political favor, and threw his name in the hat incase Ortiz loses in order to keep up the current, corrupt status quo. Amazing! Also, and here's the terrifying part, Ortiz has him working with teenage explorers. If I were the parents, I'd be afraid because of his past record of questionable and compromising situations with females in general, let alone young, naive potential victims.

Luckily, he's made such an ass of himself, bragging that he's a shoe-in, that it prompted a few of us to ask if this was the same jerk from Medina county, and sure enough it is!

Citizens beware! Deputies and other SO employees beware!

I am not an expert on anything, just have opinions. It is my firm belief that a Constable or Sheriff must first & foremost, have leadership, administrative, managerial, and team building skills. LE experience is not a necessary requirement. They must build cohesive teams, be able to "politic" with Commissioners Court instead of fighting with them and burring bridges. Law enforcement experience is secondary and not needed as long as the senior staff has these assets. Look at what we have now; a mess! Who is the ideal candidate? Someone like General Susan Pamerleau. She has no connection to crooks or owes favors to shysters or retired LE dummy's. Throughout her career she has taken care of her troop, not ignored them and treated them like crap.

I don't believe I want to vote for someone who will "politic" with anyone. In fact my vote goes to the candidate who I view as the least politically driven.

Pamerleau has run for another political office and lost. Ricketts has run for other political offices and lost. So, while the Sheriff's Office might seem to be the next easiest path into "politics", I don't think they have what it takes for THIS office.

It takes someone with a passion for THIS JOB, to really make a true difference.

Ortiz has made a mockery of the BCSO, and there are too many jobs and families at stake to risk a Wolff driven privatization of the jail at the hand of an Air Force General! It's not just rumors and propaganda, it's a REAL possibility! Remember, it was all just rumors till Brooks and Kelly got the axe, destroying small, family owned businesses while benefitting local Fat Cats and a few Air Force Generals getting ready for retirement as well.

We support Andy Lopez because he has a viable solution for the jail, and for his outspoken opposition to the current, corrupt, good ole' boy administration. Andy started in the jail many years ago, retired as a Chief with BCSO, and is NOT a politician! Andy Lopez is a good man, a LOCAL man who'll protect LOCAL jobs and restore dignity to the Bexar County Sheriffs Office.

Andy Lopez is OUR Man!

The Sheriff is an elected official. Nevertheless, the Commissioner's Court pulls his/her purse strings (controls the budget). Andy Lopez has LE experience. Nevertheless, a good police officer does not necessarily make a good administrator. Please enlighten me on his administrative/managerial, and educational background, to include udergraduate and graduate degrees. We donít want another repeat of the current and former administration. Thanks.

I happen to take issue with the statement, " Law enforcement experience is secondary and not needed as long as the senior staff has these assets."

Secondary? Ok, so how does one meet the LAW ENFORCEMENT needs of the community, and the employees who just happen to be in the LAW ENFORCEMENT profession, when they have no LAW ENFORCEMENT experience at all? Oh wait, Senior staff right? If the Senior staff has the "assets" (aka experience. More specifically, LAW ENFORCEMENT experience) to do the job, then why do we need the inexperienced person running the Senior staff? Wearing the stars and sitting behind a desk doesn't cut it in the real world.

Come to think of it, how does one even choose the "Senior staff" of experienced LE officers, when they don't have the LE experience to know that they're even making good choices as to who the "Senior staff" will be? How do they know they aren't getting more of the " LE dummies"( no apostrophe required when you spell it correctly) mentioned in a previous post?

You must have a respect for law enforcement and an understanding of the needs of those you serve to be the top LAW ENFORCEMENT officer in the county. That respect and understanding comes from being in the trenches, answering calls for service, handling real-life crisis situations, boots on the ground. Also known as EXPERIENCE.

It comes across a little arrogant and condescending, but at least you spelled it correctly this time.
If this were the Air Force, undergrad and grad degrees might amount to stars, but again, this is a job for a real person.
Andy's education is listed on his qualifications at his website. Easy to find and read for one's self.
My point is, if you're interested in politics, don't try to be a law officer when we so badly need real experience in a Sheriff. My vote is for Andy

Can we agree to disagree? We see this situation from 2 different point's of view. I respect you view and hope you respect mine. I will agree with you that we need change. Good luck to Andy Lopez!

Thanks for the quick response. I must admit that I enjoyed our disagreement on candidates. This is what makes our country great; freedom of the choice and to express our opinions. I am embarrassed for those who resort to vulgarities on this forum.

I think Susan Pamerleau is exactly what the Sheriff's Office needs. Having met with her on several occassions and hearing what she has to say about important topics that relate to the Sheriff's Office, I can say that she is not in support of handing over the jail (privatizing) to the County Commissioners. She IS in favor of running an effecient and PROFESSIONAL department and I for one am relieved that we finally have a candidate that is not part of the good ol' boy system and brings to the table the drive to make our Sheriff's Office the best it can be, for staff and for the citizens of Bexar County. Susan is a born leader and will bring the Sheriff's Office up to the level it needs to be at.

Wolff is endorsing Ralph Diaz, not Susan Pamerleau. Diaz will hand over the jail to commissioners - Pamerleay will reshape the Sheriff's Office into an efficient and professional department.
