Corey Baxter murder

Does anyone have any information on this? The last thing i can find is that the trial was supposed to start in January. I have researched this and am coming up short. Any help would be appreciated.

well i am a very close friend and don't think it is any of your business. it is a tragedy and i don't feel like it needs to be exploited all over the place so i would like to know why u have a personal interest in it

i'm not trying to exploit anything. i apologize if it seems that way. i grew up with michael yaws and cannot believe that he turned out this way. it is very heartbreaking. i would be happy to talk to you privately about this so that we are not putting everyone's business out there.

there is nothing that can be said at this time we are in a delicate stage with the trial coming up so i would rather not say anything on behalf of his sister in law and brother sorry

I completely understand and respect that. I hope that they receive justice in all of this. What happened was horrible and despicable that these people would do that to another human and think they could get away with it. My sympathy to his family.

what a stupid post, not the actual post, but rather 'whys' response. If you don't want to disclose information about it then why bother even answering??? Its not an invasion of privacy to learn about the trial date or the details of the trail...Thats all PUBLIC information, thats why their is a TRIAL, because its a matter of public record.....'Oh_geez', i am going to find out about it and I will let you know everything, and I dont care what you do with the information. Its your right to KNOW, thats what being an AMERICAN means.

As a major crime, this isn't merely a personal matter to anyone, and is therefore, our business. It's true that people should watch what they say on these forums because the jury hasn't been picked yet, at least as far as I know. That said, whatever information any of us has is probably just what has already been in the newspaper, and thus not going to change anything. To the family of the victim: I think most people are just concerned with seeing justice done. This crime was nearly unbelievable.

SO, I'm going to call the court house tomorrow, and I am going to invoke the Freedom of Information Act if they don't tell me whats is the status of the case. Its as a simple as that. I'm sorry buy 'why' really annoyed me so I am going to find out everything then I am going to tell everyone. Cause we will know when criminals get justice.

The 1st trail starts tomorrow and the shooter Dane Batterton is not even being charged. He braged and laughed about it, lets see if this is brought up on the first trial. Whats wrong with the law or is his family another friend of Susan Reed our District Attorney.

What do you mean little press. It took a whole day to get a jury together and they still have to review a few more tomorrow. They interviewed 96 today and the majority knew about the case. Open your eyes Joe. You might want to order the express news paper or just turn on the news on both TV and radio. Believe me you will see this is a very high profile case. I guarantee you some of the others will have their case moved from San Antonio to another county.

How can the DA make deals with known drug addicts and criminals to testify against others and allow them to continue to commit other horrific crimes and drop all charges against them, just to close a case and testify to their liking. These individual who testify what the DA wants them to say will go back on the streets and continue to do what it is they have been doing. Dane Batteron who shot and braged about it will be set free. His girlfriend who play a big part also will be set free, just because her family has money. Everyone who will be testifying against any of the 7 will be set free and walk, no matter what part they played in this case. All the 30 people who were at the party and knew about what was going on have been set free with no charges. I though the family wanted justice. Is this what you call justice. This is what the DA calls closing a case. All the families are hurting because they have all lost their son either to death or jail/prison. This is a sad case for everyone who is involved.

Here's the deal. Law and court procedures are a bit confusing. If you have knowledge of a crime before it happens and you do nothing to stop it or report it can you be charged? Yes. Will you? Probably not. Think about this...the jury they likely found for this case will likely have little to no knowledge about it...and will probably have even less of a knowledge in law and court procedures. With that being said, trying to get a jury to convict someone on the grounds of murder or accompany to murder with the only evidence of "they heard something about it from a friend of a friend, but they were not there and they did not do anything" is almost as tough as trying to nail jell-o to a tree.

Now I know there are quite a few people affected by this case and that can effect judgement in what is percived as right and justified. The courts have gone after the 7 they feel they have the strongest cases against and can get convictions from.

Just remember....there is NO statute of limitations on murder in the state of Texas. Meaning, even if you testified or were not charged right now, if more evidence comes up later in another trial or more evidence come forward from other people, new people can be charged in this case.

This is a very sad case and I for one am going to be keeping an eye on it, as will the rest of San Antonio I'm sure. All we can hope for is that this all gets done fairly and cleanly so that the healing can start on all sides.
