I think Cab Drivers should be allowed to carry a gun if they hold a state issued Concealed Handgun Permit. The thugs out there would think twice before attempting to rob or hurt a driver who is only trieing to make a living for him/her self.

There is no law, city or state that prevents a cabbie from carrying a concealed weapon. Concealed hand gun permits are only required to carry a weapon outside of your personal car or home, not inside your car or home or motorhome. The problem is that carrying a weapon would not allow a cabbie to enter a military base governed by federal law which has strict laws against such weapons. So if a cabbie picked up passengers wanting to go to a military base and couldn't because of the weapon, he/she would be in violation of the city's refusal of service ordinance. Catch 22.

Chapter.33 City Ordinace prohibits a taxi cab driver from carrying weapons, regardless CHL,or a peace officer. If the driver violates this ordinace, the driver will lose his/her vehicle driver permit indefinatly.

Yellow Cab management prohibits their drivers from carrying weapons,if they violate company's policy, they will be terminated.

Theres other drivers out there that are violating Chapter.33 carrying weapons, were in thge process with the assistance of SAPD to help catch these drivers, and will take action.

They are not allowed according to Chapter.33 City Ordinace,if they get robbed that's on the driver,we dont' care if they get robbed, just don't violate Chapter.33,or we will rob the cab drivers vehicle permit.

Yellow Cab drivers are prohibited from carrying any type of weapons, according to Chapter.33 City Ordinace.

Drivers sign a contract, agree to follow company rules, and city ordinace.

If the driver violates, city ordinace CH.33,or company policy, the company terminates the drivers contract.

If you want readers to believe that your posts are from different people (Gary Gilbert GTU and Yellow Cab SA) you should not repeat the same grammatical, punctuation, and spelling mistakes.

Let me restate your 4th grade posting.

If you are offended with Chapter 33 of the city ordinance, well, too bad. The City of San Antonio does not allow the drivers to carry any kind of weapons.

Best bet, if you don't follow the rules, then you lose your driving permit.

Its obvious that you are ignorant, uneducated, and probably bisexual.

Well looks like another cab driver got robbed and maimed by some scumbag too lazy to work. Its sad that Yellow Cab and the Ground Transportation Unit of San Antonio prohibit the carrying of weapons for these drivers just out to do a job and support themselfs. Most of them have the Concealed Carry Permit issued by the State, but the nimrods in management prohibit them from carrying it while driving the cabs. I say this, "It is better to be tried by twelve, than to be carried by six". I think Chapter 33 should be done away with and drivers should be allowed to defend themselfs from all threats to their livelyhood.

I used to drive for Yellow. They have no rules about guns, other than abiding by the ordinance. At lease Yellow has all their cabs equipped with cameras to deter robberies and help bring those to justice that prey on taxi drivers. What do the other cab companies do for their drivers?

To all taxicab drivers,Gary Gilbert GTU Director,is in the process of adding another rule to Ch.33 City Ordinance.

"Taxicab drivers,Limosine drivers,Tow Truck drivers,or other drivers that gets issued a Vehicle for Hire Permit,is prohibited from having a radar detector inside thier vehicle"

Most people that have a radar detector, use it to speed, and warns them that a radar is being use by Law Enforcement,so they slow down.

GTU gets alot of complaints from the public, about taxicab drivers speeding, and notice that they have a radar detector visible on the windshield,or dashboard.

This will keep the road, alot safer to the public.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Scorpio

Your thoughts turn to the past today, putting you in a nostalgic mood. You're awash with sentimental tears as you dwell on days gone by or gaze at photos of people you'll never see again. However, try not to let this mood of reminiscence turn into a tendency to feel sorry for yourself and therefore to demand special treatment from others.
