My English is a bit broken so please have tolerance for my improper grammer use. I know the man you speak about, he is a mental tyrant. It is shamefull that such things are allowed in this country. Edgewood ISD is the WILD WEST or little Mexico.

I followed the guy into a restroom at a Home Depot and we were in adjacent stalls and he was tapping his foot????? I'm not one for a quickie dump but I got outta there ASAP if ya know what I mean. I wouldn't share a cab with that you-know-what.

Chief Charlie Pena from EISD Police Department has stepped up to the plate while other major school district police departments such as NEISD Police, North Side ID Police, and SAISD Police sit around and wait for the city or county to rescue them. My question is this, why pay school taxes for a police department that is only limited in enforcing school rules when the state law allows them to enforce all laws? I think it’s a waste of tax payer’s dollars!!! The school district police can play a vital role in solving many unsolved cases which are in main cases committed by our youth. The school district officers know their youth far better then any city or county officer due to there everyday contact with them. It is my hope that all other school district police departments follow in the same footsteps of the EISD Police and convert to a modern day department equipped to handle any calls brought upon them. If not, let’s seize them of all their law enforcement powers and give them the title of security officer in which they are presently serving as. Keep up the great work Chief!!!

If not, let’s seize them of all their law enforcement powers and give them the title of security officer in which they are presently serving as due to the strict restrictions imposed by their school board members who should not be re-elected if they continue this non-sense. Oh, the ice cream man, our modern-day Pied Piper, whose jingle draws kids by the dozens, mouths watering for his treats.
In one West Side neighborhood, however, those treats allegedly came with a little extra, illegal punch.

Wednesday, Edgewood Independent School District police arrested a 49-year-old ice cream vendor and accused him of selling cocaine, marijuana and Xanax through his van window.

"I haven't seen something this bold," Police Chief Charlie M. Peña Jr. said. "Right out of the truck, like you buy ice cream."

For the past three years, the man had staked out San Felipe Avenue and Ruiz Street, just feet away from Garcia Junior High School and Holy Cross High School, Peña said.

"It was a good cover to have," Peña said. "Nobody had caught on to him."

Most of his customers were regulars, Peña said, and, "at this point, it looks like their ages were between junior high and high school."

A system of codes was used by customers to indicate they were to be trusted, Peña said, and referrals for new customers were accepted.

Sometimes, when customers had no money, marijuana would be traded for prescription pills.

The corner was targeted at hours of the day "when the kids were coming out of school," Peña said.

But the operation melted after one customer told a relative, who tipped off police, Peña said.

He said it was unlikely officials would try to pin down the customers, noting it would be "really hard to bust that code of silence."

District spokesman Mario Rios praised its Police Department's work, adding: "We don't want this type of situation near our schools."

Yet he marveled at the audacity.

"This is the first I've ever heard of something like that," he said of the sales technique.

Since January, mobile food vendors have been required to undergo criminal background checks before renewing their license each year. Anyone convicted of sex offenses or offenses against children is prevented from acquiring a license.

Its easy to start something thousands of miles away. You probably dont even know were Edgewood is, and if you did you have never been there because your scared. Your story would be different if you were stranded in Edgewood and had some gang bangers messing with you.

the reason E.I.S.D. shouldn't have the same authority as SAPD is because they do not have the training nor the knowledge as they have displayed in so many of their actions.

All Departments meet the minimum requirements as any other department in the state of Texas which is required by TCLEOSE the governing authority.
SAPD just provides additional training on Local Ordinances, etc, which is irrelevant to other departments such as school districts who don’t deal with that type of law on a daily basis.

EISD Officers are loose cannons.Just do a little more research, and you'll see how much they have caused the poorest district in the city to pay out lawsuits. There are reasons that agencies other than BCSO and SAPD follow procedures in handling arrests for other,smaller agencies.Even though they are licensed by the state, their usual jurisdiction is the school district boundries. Yes, there are former SAPD and BCSO Officers at EISD, which is a great benefit to the district, but their talent and expertise is over shadowed by the LESSER trained wannabe's.Aside from BCSO and SAPD's training that EISD Officers do not have, compare the standards needed to be SAPD or BCSO to EISD's standards.But, then again,if they met those standards they would join SAPD or BCSO,spend 20 years there, retire and join a department like EISD. Hopefully, they would shoot higher and work for SAISD or NISD."Buttwipe" ? Dude, you are showing your level of maturity and intelligence. So, how long have you been with EISD?
