Since I've moved here I've been trying to find the best Mexican restaurant in town. Everyone I ask gives me a different answer. What's your favorite?

La Margarita is the best mexican restaurant hands down! They have a combination meat platter that will make you have a mental orgasim. Your mouth will water, and your taste buds will quiver after the first bite. Your legs will get weak and your breath will increase after each bite is chewed. They are located in the same side as Mi Tierra in Market Square.

I had lunch at Mi Tierra. It was okay but I don't see the hype. Isn't La Margarita owned by the same people? But their food is better? I'm not sure I can handle a food-induced mental orgasm, haha.

You need to try Tink-A-Taco. Their food is awesome! Fresh ingredients, not too spicey or too pricey!

They used to make every thing fresh, but there slowly slipping by using pre-package food.

Mi Tierra has some good stuff. Chachos is good for fast Mexican. Chachas is excellent. The one on Babcock has the best service. La Fogata is excellent too. Guajillo's on Blanco and 410 offers an excellent alternative to the usual Tex Mex. Garibaldi's on I-90 on the west side is superb, as is Taqueria Tequila Jalisco on Military drive by Lackland. I like the little places on the west and south sides the best....

When it comes to the very best in Texan- Mexican culinary artistry, no other eatery comes to mind other than the San Antonian restaurant Panchitos! Unlike its myriad brethren, Panchitos stamps savory sophistication in every mouth-watering dish. I highly recommend the Tacos al Carbon, and the Enchiladas de Queso, and of course the Steak Tampiquena. The tortilla soup is simply sublime. The sumptuous and wide-ranging menu coupled with warm ambiance make for an exquisitely unbeatable dining experience. Depending on what side of the city you live around I also like the following: Downtown: 1st Mi Terra, 2nd La Margarita, 3rd Taco Heaven, 4th Rosario’s NE 1st Panchito’s 2nd La Posada Del Rey 3rd Thousand Oaks Café South-East Minuet or Minete: However, it is closed Taco Hutt: However, it is also closed – best puffy tacos ever! NW 1st El Chaparral Westside It’s a place inside the 410 loop on Bandera – they have a flat panel screen tv, and great tostadas.

The food was not bad but not great, either. Maybe it was just because that location is really new. You'd think since they were new and didn't have that many customers the service would be great but it was pretty poor. One of the guys has eaten at another Tink-A-Tako on the west side and said it was better.

Thanks for the other suggestions. I'll try some of them out. I actually live on the northside and work near the airport. I'll probably try Guajillo's next. Someone else said it was 'authentic' too.

"It’s a place inside the 410 loop on Bandera – they have a flat panel screen tv, and great tostadas" There are only about 50 Mexican joints on Bandera inside 410 ;-) Maybe you're thinking of Chacha's.

i work off blanco and I went to Tink A Taco today, I bought 2 chicken fajitas w guacamole and a lemonade...it was okay, but very pricey. I paid 6.97. I like to go to Panchitos on West Ave or the one at the Quarry. Los Barrios is my favorite. They have great lunch specials and Louie is super nice (the owner).

So far I'd have to say Los Barrios is my favorite, but I've been there more than anywhere else. I really do like La Fogata but the three times I've been there I've had a frozen drink & felt ill afterwards...I think it was the drink, not the food.

I can't tell the difference between good and bad Mexican food. It all tastes salty and greasy to me. I do however like tortillas.

I know all the places you all are mentioning, but one that is a sleeper is Jacala on West Ave. I have gone there since I was 8 years old, some decades ago, and it never disappoints. Good prices, good food, good service, and they serve corn tortillas not flour.
