I was working at the Roasting Co. on 10/17/89, left work a couole hours before the earthquake. I was friends with Shawn and Robin. It was shocking and devistating to lose them. Shawn always made me smile, a great guy with a huge heart...

The worst part is that Shawn had pulled himself away from drugs and upward into a very productive and satisfying life, only to die because there was an unsafe brick wall in his workplace that should have been replaced long ago. No one should have died in there because of that stupid, unreinforced brick wall. My heart goes out to his and Robin's families and friends.

My mother was born legally blind and was recruited by the Jehovah's Witnesses who *promised* her *new eyes* any day in the Watchtower's post Armageddon new system paradise. That was 50 years ago she died blind 8 years ago.
The Kingdom Hall is a fraud for God full of heartache.
That's it!

Because Harrison believes her son will be resurrected by God some day, his death led her to return to her faith as a Jehovah's Witness.

"I knew at that point," she said, "I had to come back to Jehovah to see my son."...

The Watchtower religion is a cruel hoax that *promises* the resurrection "any day" to those who put their trust in "Jehovah" aka the Watchtower society corporation.

I remember the long slow vigil that unfolded as the entire town waited for news of the people who perished at the coffee roasing company. It was sad when they were uncovered and it is still sad. The original coffee roasting company was a neat place, as was the book shop and the teacup restaurant and bar, along with the bakery, swan and too many places to mention, not forgetting the shoe repair place...all within close proximity of each other.

I hope the families who survive their loved ones' deaths understand that there are others out here who remember the sadness that goes with it. We all grieve for your loss.

I never knew Shawn or Robin, but I do remember praying fervently for their rescue and for the profound sadness their deaths brought to the community. I think everyone of us who was there, hoped for a miracle here. We were all so aware of the absolute devastation on the 880, and we watched the excruciatingly horrible footage of hopelessness, depair and death that hung over that site, so of course, we looked to the rescue of these two young people as a beacon of hope for all who were trapped.

Unfortunately, there would be no rescue, only the deparete recovery, that left so many angry and frustrated because it was thought (especially in the case of Robin), that if rescuers could have got to her sooner that she might have survived.

I remember walking near the site the day Robin's body was recovered. Just hours before, actually, and there was so much hope and sadness in the air at the same time.

I offer my condolences to both families. Your loss, was a loss to us all.

Thank you McCormick family for sharing your story.

Daily Horoscope for December 21

Aquarius

Although you're still feeling sociable and outgoing, the Solstice brings the need for a little time to yourself now and then. It's time to temper your busy social life with some precious moments of solitude. Make sure you do, as this need is something important and life-enhancing. It will certainly recharge your inner batteries, which might be a little run down.
