..the VA hospital in Huntington sent me there for a procedure
that apparently the VA hospital couldn't do or didnt have the
time to do..for the most part, the doctor that did the spinal
tap for me was very professional in his work...but the two
hours I had to spend in the recovery were the most aggravating
two hours ever...the nurses, attenedants or whatever they are
called (all men workers), were as rude as all get out. I knew
I had to stay there without raising my head for that two hours
or get an awful head ache after my procedure or I would have
gotten up and left that place a long time before my two hours
were up, that's for sure. From now on, if I have a choice, it
will not be to go to Cabel Huntington Hospital..I don't like it
at all!

I wouldn't say such a thing about someone I know nothing
of the kind about, my visit there was because I needed an
MRI for nerve damages I had from and earlier injury but
couldn't take an MRI due to a small piece of steel in my
body that has been there since childhood and can't be
safely removed...an MRI would cause problems..so the VA
sent me there for this spinal tap...it never did me any
good to go, and yes, the male nurses were very rude with
me and there was no reason for them to think I was a Magoffin
County druggie either. I thought that I must have caught
them on a bad day; I would never say 'never', but I hope I
don't have to be sent there again even though it is a choice
place air ambulances like to take a person to in extreme
emergencies...if that ever happens to me, I can take the
rudeness, it would be better than dyin'!

That's great that you were treated great for that two
weeks, my stay there was for about three hours. As I
said, the neurologist that performed the procedure,
was very professional, but the male workers, nurses or
whatever they are in the recovery were the rude ones.
Maybe they were just going through a bad day or something,
but even at that, I don't feel they should take it out
on a patient who is not even allowed to raise his head off
the pillow for those two hours. This procedure will cause
severe headache if this precaution is not observed, so I
just closed my eyes and let the grumps be grumps, I'm
out of there when these two hours are up anyway! I hope
I don't have to be there again, but if I do, I will close
my eyes and let grumps be grumps again, at least I know
there are exceptionally good doctors there and if I'm going
to have a chance to make it, this is a very fine hospital
despite the grumps of the lesser folk who work there!

I believe I made it clear that I was there no longer than
three hours of one day. I was there on a referral from
The Veterans Hospital to have a procedure which included
a spinal tap, a procedure that requires the patient to
lay flat of his/her back once the spinal tap is performed,
if this requirement is not met, the patient can expect an
excruciating head ache, I was told to lay there for a two
hour period and if I didn't do it right that I could have
to go back in for a 'blood patch' to fill in for the fluid I
lost from the spinal tap procedure. As I said, the doctor
was very professional at his job, I never had as much as
touch of a head ache because I lay there still as possible
for that two hours...I really had an issue about needing to
go to the rest room and the male nurse, attendant or whatever
his title is, was very expicit and rude when I asked for a
urinal..so I lay there in a punishing situation until my two
hours were up. To keep down a ruckus, I held my tongue until
I could get out of there...I simply felt slighted by the staff
in that one part of the hospital, not with the doctor who
performed the procedure.

If it's my post you're replying to, I'm pleased for
you that you had no problem...you had enough to stand
by just having to be i.c.u. I never said I was angry
at anyone, but I do feel if a person is on duty in
a hospital recovery room or anywhere else where the
public is served that a bit of consideration for the
patient is in order...after all, their salary comes
from indirectly from the patients served. All cases are
not typical and all workers don't perform in the same
fashion.
