When did you come to the conclusion that God was not always God? Biblical Christianity believes in a sovern God that always was, is, and always will be.

That's a weird question. You should explain it so it can be understood.

I think they mean like the common man can become a god, implying that god was once a common man? Or something like that?

For a Christian who believes in a God that always was God, to convert to a theology were they pray to a man who has become A God, there must be an explanation. Besides ego, what would convince someone to make that shift in belief?

So yeah your refering to how mormons believe god was once a common man right? Or something like that, im not mormon so im not sure how it goes, lucian76 do you know what were talking about?

I too think that that is a egotistical point of view.
But that is kinda how their religion is, hints the three different tiers of heaven.
And that is why mormons are so rude is because they try so hard to be "better" than everyone else.
I couldnt imagine living the life stuck in the mentality of a 12 year old. Not being able to swear or watch rated R movies or doing anything that makes you a adult.

The LDS church doesn't believe that God was once a "common man". They believe like most Christians do that Jesus was the son of God, but was also a man. Some people believe that Jesus is the God of this Earth and God is the God of Gods.

The LDS church also believes that if you reach the pinnacle of spiritual maturity, you can become a God of a world when you die. That's the three kingdoms you're referring to.

It's hard to bash any one religion for what they believe because honestly, they're all filled with a little hocus pocus and half truths. Religion is just another form of control and power.

SO, a husband, wife and their children get sealed together "forever", right?

When those children who were sealed to Mom & Dad get married, they will in turn get sealed to their spouse and children, and so on.

This is not logical. Will they have to choose whom to go with in the afterlife for time and all eternity? Logic says once you are sealed together to your parents, you cannot get sealed to someone else.

But then again, not much makes sense in the LDS religion.

Agreed, but have you seen the alternative? Here's the Nicene Creed for your judgement. You tell ME that isn't confusing.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us men and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary , and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son, He is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

All the while keep in mind that we believe in ONE God.

Interesting story...:). In an earlier post, you said that you weren't Christian?

I was born Christian but once I got to figuring things out, I no longer regard myself as such.

The bulk of that post was some of the Christian belief in the nature of God. It's confusing as hell.

it's difficult to follow what you're saying and what you actually believe because on these Mormon discussions you always say WE believe in... instead of THEY believe in....

I don't care if you are LDS, I doesn't matter to me what your spiritual beliefs are. Just wanted clarification.

Are you referring to when I said "WE grew up reciting it"? That wasn't Mormon, it was Catholic.

I've been defending Mormons because since I've lived in Utah, I've been studying their history. They've been victim of a lot of hate.

The only problem with them is their adherence to the Bible, which has been responsible for a lot of the kind of hate I mentioned before.

If you must know what I believe in, I agree with much of Deism. I don't believe in it outright, but it's the closest to what I believe.

I agree that they have been the target of alot of negativity, but I think they bring alot of that on themselves. Researching their history is difficult because it's very biased in the state of Utah. You have to find non-LDS approved material to get the true story. Even history books in Utah are different than in other states.

Mormons like to play the martyr, it justifies their choice. If people hate them for their religion, then they must have chosen the right one.

I don't have anything against, them, but I do understand both sides.

That's all it is, really... just trying to understand both sides.
