This is an absolute disgrace and outrage. Police brutality against minors? These are childrren being attacked without any action taken to insure that the children are being cared for after such a trama? Horrific. Disgusting. This behavior in The South that repeatedly treats their communities as garbage is exactly the thing that fires my repulsion for The South. I am a mixed race woman filled with disgust for such promoted self hatred by authority figures in that notorious region of the U.S. I have no idea why someone would want to live there. Why choose to live amongst those with such rampant, dangerous hate? I never want to go to The South. Disgraceful. That man should be fired, shamed, and then sent straight to major counseling for the rage he has for himself that he turns onto others- onto children and his community.

Funyy how its a black officer and you still want to bring race into it. Well since you you decided to make it a racial thing, then good lets make it one. What is the race of all the people fighting in the club??? Hmmm yeah thats what I thought.

Hey Chantal, I guess everything is always just peachy up there in The North. If it's so great then do us all a favor and stay up there. We don't need your kind down here in "The South".

Wasn't that many problems here in the south until you northerners tried to reconstruct us. I expect if this had happened in the Big Apple, those people would have gotten worse....and, we only see a few seconds of the video...we don't know what happened to cause all this

Until you live here in "The South" you have no idea what it's like. The majority of people are nice and speak to you when spoken to. I have lived in the north and will never go back!!!!!!!! And furthermore "Southern by the Grace of God"

This officer was only trying to control a bunch of angry drunks. It would'nt matter what color they were a bunch of drunks that are already worked up need to be controled by any means for the safety of the police. I get really tired of the lawbreakers being portrayed as the abused when an officer has to use force to defuse a mob situation.

This officer should be fired and not placed in a school working with CHILDREN!If I was a parent with a child in this middle school I would do whatever needs to be done to get this ABUSER out of my childs school! His behavior as a police officer is to protect and to serve! Not grab a woman by her throat and slam her down. The Salisbury police department needs to be sued for employing rogue police officers who apparently think they are above the law! This is a case of police brutality and misconduct!

Race is not an issue here. The issue is police officers who think they can do whatever to a citizen without reprimand or any conseqeunces. I'm a white female who was also a victim of police misconduct in Winston-Salem by a white police officer who thought he was the law, judge and jury.

I didn't see this woman fighting with police but what I did see by this police officer is disturbing enough and gives me more reason enough not to trust the police even more no matter where you live. He had no reason to grab her by her throat and take her down like he did and off duty too boot ! He needs to be charged with assault on a female and fired for what he did to her!!! There was no excuse at all for his behavior! People like him with a badge , who are supposed to uphold the law make me sick! It's cops like these who give the good ones a bad name!!!

There's not enough information to determine if the officer was in violation. What did the two "victims" do to warrant the officer's response? Is this another liberal media attempt to rouse the crowds or is this a legitimate story?

Look Piedmont Resident, there is enough evidence to determine if the officer was in violation. That officer charged one man and hit him with his fist. The female already had one arm being held by a police officer and the other by another woman in the video. Then the abusive police officer decided to grab her by the throat and slam her on a table. What did either of these two VICTIMS do to the police officer. In my opinion nothing!!! Politics has nothing to do with how this officer behaved. This is what's wrong with people today, someone gets attacked etc and society is ready to dismiss a problem because it isn't their problem.Maybe things like this wouldn't happen as often as they do if people did get involved even if it isn't their problem. Apparently from the video , it is a legitimate story, video doesn't lie ! This cop needs to be fired plain and simple. He doesn't need to be in a school working with children since he can't seem to keep his anger in check with adults. This officer has some anger management problems that need to be addressed and working a police officer with the public is obviously not the correct job for him. He should stand in the unemployment line with everyone else !

Angie, there isn't enough info on the provided footage to make an accurate "assumption" as to whether the officer was in violation or not, so I went to the well known video site and watched the whole incident, or at least what the videographer wants us to see. First off, what I saw was a large, drunken, disorderly crowd that completely overwhelmed the security force there. This crowd repeatedly was told to calm down and leave, but they did neither. At the point, the entire crowd appeared to be involved in some type of violation. My first reaction would have to been to find the nearest door so I could vacate the business, but no...this unruly mob continued to stay and further muddle the business at hand. The actual first act of "force" was by a white male security officer (not police) who had a black, unshirted male, in an actual head/choke hold...nothing was said about that. Shortly after this is when I see the first police presence...a young looking white male. Then I see some more officers on the scene...its hard to tell when they come into the picture as the video has been obviously pieced together and shot from different angles. I do see the young black female become belligerent and obnoxious to the point where she, at first, was not only restrained by an officer, but by a civilian who recognized that her behavior was about to buy her a trip to jail. Yes, I did see the officer push her backwards with his hand near her throat area. But I also saw her carrying something that looks like bottles in both of her hands. I also saw her continue to raise up in resistance to this officer's "choke" hold. Now, I'm no doctor, but usually when a person is being choked, their first instinct is to pry away the hands from their throat...if they aren't successful, then the "choked" person loses consciousness. Neither happened in this video which leads one to surmise that a "choking" didn't happen, it just looked like it did. Yes, it did appear that the officer's hand was around her throat, but it definitely was not "choking' her....she continued to push against the officer. Next comes the punching of the Fox subject. For this, I have no explanation as it does appear that the officer punched him unprovoked. But like I said, this video was obviously pieced and edited....and with any video, you will see only what the videographer wants you to see. In any event, if the officer was wrong, then he should have been punished. But apparently, according to the SBI, he wasn't since this was investigated by them, too. I wasn't there, so I don't know. What I do know is that if the entire bunch of drunken, brawling, unruly and disorderly subjects had left when they were told to, none of this would have happened.

Either way, this cop had no business putting his hands on anyone the way he did. He had no business rushing this young woman and putting his hand on her throat and choaking her and pushing her backwards. If you or I were to do what he did we would be charged with assault, plain and simple. Point blank there are other ways to control a crowd and this definitley wasn't the way to do it.
No matter how this video was pieced or choppy like usual videos are in retail or clubs that officer is still wrong and conducted himself the wrong way.If the crowd was unruly then they should have tear gassed them all but no one did that. There are ways to handle these types of situations and behaving like a bull in a china shop is not one of them like this officer behaved.

Oh and by the way STK, the young woman couldn't pry his hands away because one officer had one arm and a female had the other. You can choke a person without making them lose conscious. His hands were around her throat and he was chocking her while he pushed her down on the table. This officer, if he was trying to restrain her, well he had handcuffs and he could have hand cuffed her instead of wrapping his hand around her throat.

Angie, I never said I agreed with it. What I am saying is you always see what the videographer wants you to see. I admitted that his hand was at her throat...but he definitely wasn't choking her. If you will go back and look at all the tape, her arms aren't restrained.

I'm not saying the officer was right, but have you been trained in these areas? I haven't so I don't know what his training is or what his department's policies are.

STK, I don't know what tape you looked at but her arms are clearly restrained by an officer and another woman. Then the other officer grabs her throat choking her and slammed her back onto a table. All this AFTER he just got done wailing on someone else at the same club.Point blank he had no reason to put his hands on her throat and he had no reason to wail on an innocent man. Whether he's a cop or not it still doen't give him the right to attack someone whether they were drunk and disorderly or not.

Like I said before they could have tear gassed the whole place to calm those down who refused to cooperate and leave. No I don't have training in this area but I have a very close friend who is a police officer at this same department. And the way this officer handled this situation is out right wrong on any level. He could be sued for police misconduct and brutality on top of everything else. And he should be.

There are problems concerning money today, especially if someone thinks they aren't getting their fair share of it.
