Looks like responsible common sense hasn't been completely removed from the voting populace in Salinas. Now, if they could get the city to allow ICE to come in and remove the large population of illegal immingrants sucking the city resourses dry! Additionally, the removal of the large numbers of illegal immigrants in turn will reduce the number of children of illegal immigrants who have a demonstrated propensity to join the violent street gangs! Two cost reducing programs which will have a positive effect on the standard of living in Salinas!

This would definitely clean up a lot of problems, but it's not going to happen. Salinas is a sanctuary city.

Why get rid of poor Mexicans? So they could be replace with poor African-Americans or poor Whites like Crips, Bloods, or Nazi Lowriders. Some people are either idiots or ignorant in thinking that getting rid of a group of people is going to change something for the better, how about getting rid of the lack of well paying jobs or lack of opportunity to join something other than gangs. A lot of people try to tout this area of being unique because its so small geographically but there is so much knowledge and wealth in such a small area, but they fail to acknowledge that the gap between the underprivileged and the elite is growing wider and they are trying to expand it more one penny at a time.

The city needs to everything in it's power, if means removing the "sanctuary" status so be it. If it means using RICO do it. Cut the fluff, keep the effective stuff, libraries, anti-gang task force. Freeze salaries or reduce them. No more perks. Make the city desirable and safe and the taxes will automatically increase and we can add as needed as we can afford. Common sense people. If you want to raise taxes for a specific thing don't do it through the general fund, we want to know what we are really voting for.

I think Measure K lost, not only because we refuse to be taxed to death, but also Denisse Donohue should have been wearing 49's Jersey, carrying football around was not good enough, we wanted more. Next time Mr. Donohue try wearing the 49's Jersey maybe that will work.

The mayor wants to keep putting tax increases on the ballot. How much do these elections cost? WE SAID NO. Get used to it and live within your means like the rest of us. Vote him OUT!

If the right honorable mayor wears the niner's jersey, what does he wear on the blue side of town? Hope he wouldn't get confused

The Skipper Donohue should go back to Gilligan's Island and learn how to steer a boat.
