Review: Old Town Bar & Grill

Food is horrible and drinks are outrageous but last Friday night there was a new dj. I believe his name was dj FM. The best I have heard in awhile. If that dj is a regular I would definetly check it out, regardless of the overpriced drinks.

I havent tasted the food yet...but the staff is friendly....and Hell Yeah! I have to agree! djFM rocked! I felt like i was in a Club instead of a Bar! That's exactly what we need in Salinas...but need to enforce the dress code just a tad to keep it from getting ghetto...

Brought friends from out of town to a local bar in salinas. Bar was definitely a struggle to get drinks and the bartenders overcharged us and gave us someone else's atm! The dj was djfm.. he played a variety of music which was awesome and kept us dancing the night away. Went there again, last friday and another guy was dj-ing which sucked. MAJOR dissapointment. keep to one guy please and keep the good times rolling!

Saturdays are pretty blah. Friday nights are packed. I don't like the music. Some guy named Shorty or something plays.

This place is just trying too hard to mimic a L.A. club hotspot, but over all this place is just ok. If you have to pay to get into this place, just save your money and buy a 12pk and stay home.

Yes, I have to agree with Frank many places in Salinas try to mimic the clubs in L.A. Most people in Salinas have terrible taste in Music. Top 40 Cheese Blaahhh!

I would not give my money to a Salinas business. The politicians need to feel the pain. Less tax dollars because their city is full of crime and they are in denial. Clean up your town Mr. Mayor, Mr Police Chief.

The music has seriously gone down hill since the place first opened. With the exception of one dj and the station djs I would say stay away from this place. Take the drive to monterey.

Will the new establishment give the customers a Bullet Proof vest and a shot-gun to defend themselves? A friend of mine wants to sell Med. and life insurance at the front door, would that be O.K.??????

Salinas needs better music...it's just ran by silly commerical music like KDON,97.9,country music... BLAAHHH!

Well thats the crowd in Salinas. That being said at least have people that know what they are doing.

I have been to the Old Town Bar & Grill was not happy that every other minute there seemed to be a conflict. You could feel the tension in the air & people needing to look over their shoulder. Then I thought it was gross that the floor was wet from all the sloppy drunks spilling their drinks. It isn't that hard to keep a place clean, I mean other bars don't have a problem. So this past Friday my boyfriend & I (a prominent figure) attempted to give the OTB&G one more try. We couldn't get past the security guy at the front because according to him my boyfriend did not meet the dress code with his leather skater shoes from Bill's Wheels. My boyfriend & I couldn't help but notice that the prejudice guard had just let in 3 gentlemen wearing a pair of New Balance, Reebok, & Nike tennis shoes, yet my boyfriends "tennis" shoes were not meeting the dress code. We just laughed & took our business to Monterey. Mucky Duck made a lot of money off us & we had a GREAT time!

I think is funny that they have a velvet rope.
It's only a upscale Hamburger Joint.

I thought the food was great, we had beers and hamburgers sitting outside in the patio. Everything was fresh, the beer was cold and the prices were not bad.

The first time I ate there the food was good, I was impressed. Just ate there today and it was completely different, the menu was shorter and the food they did have was terrible.

I would not let a Mexican touch anything I put in my body. I eat at home!
