I think they could save the $40,000 a year by getting rid of the manager.Go back to the old way of letting the Mayor/Vice Mayor and council run the city.Provided we have the right ones, lol.
Im not that old,nor am I that young, but I cant recall the pros/cons of the old way.I do know that, being around the old city building all the time and listening, that I dont recall all the bs that is going on now by having the CM.

It's more than $40,000 when you add the benefits to the package.
May even be eligible for a pension and PIA benefits too ,that's big bucks.

The city charter requires a city manager. If you want to change it, someone will have to write a new charter and follow all the statutory procedures for changing the form of government. I assume you will get right on that.

Maybe I can't do it,but I can vote and if the City council won't get someone in there that will at least clean up the town then they better find another occupation.

I was thinking Weston got rid of their CM recently. Can't be that difficult.

So, Max, give us your list of specific things you want cleaned up.

Don't forget that the main roads are state highways that the city has no authority over. Other than that, how about a specific list of potholes.

Many people who come to Salem to interview for jobs at the Local Collage never come back because they don't want to live in a town that's in the run down condition that Salem is in. There's no excuse for it other than the City Government just sets up there and eats donuts, sits on the internet all day and BS's with people on the street. Go do your jobs.

I mean, really, are you sure those interviewees ever actually leave. I mean, you know, a collage interview can create immediate, significantly sticky entanglements.

And, seriously, you know, donuts? You can't be serious? It's widely known they breakfast (and brunch)on the most delicate, delicious fresh baked daily European pastries and Asian appetizers delivered daily at precisely 3:21:2753 AM aboard the latest beta test model of the Aurora hyperdrive air/space craft direct from Brussels EU/NWO central air/space command in a "flight" time of 0.00003145 parsecs (11.75834 minutes)barring "accidental" delays caused by unannounced HAARP or Tesla scalar weapons tests; thus assuring the precisely proper fresh-baked cooling time established by EU regulation for elite-class human consumption within a time frame (US) of 8:34:3823 to 8:47:2153 AM EST each morning.

Internet? shirley you jest. Try NSA echelon network terminals with GPS tracking and targeting accuracy guaranteed within a tolerance of 0.0000133333 meters with real time unlimited access to classified, geosynchronous orbit satellite systems that can multi-sect your little toe into a preset number of fragments without even touching the valuable, newly paved city streets beneath.

Ah, come on now, you really believe those are "people" they are talking to on the streets? Well, loosely speaking, that's technically correct in one sense of the term.

And, not to worry at all about what appears to the run down condition of some sites within city limits. The city had the foresight to adopt the latest version of those international (wink) codes before the county did.(Hah, sneaked that by you, huh?) So, prior to next spring, a final decision will be made whether to just bulldoze and site burn all those unsightly private properties (watch out Israel), or, due to some of the public's unwillingness to readily accept this most reasonable and benevolent beautification program, just to continue and intensify the present psychological conditioning programs that seem to beworking well, at least in the initial beta test stages.

See, no need to worry.......be happy, go shopping, drink more beer and watch more sports, Oprah and Dr. Phil.(Or, you can try to decipher what that sentence really said....just keep in mind that figuring it out completely is virtually guaranteed to produce permanent destabilizing consequences....I think.)

To: everyman if the city has the codes then why not enforce them??

"The city had the foresight to adopt the latest version of those international (wink) codes before the county did"

I don't know what all this other crap is:

"Internet? shirley you jest. Try NSA echelon network terminals with GPS tracking and targeting accuracy guaranteed within a tolerance of 0.0000133333 meters with real time unlimited access to classified, geosynchronous orbit satellite systems that can multi-sect your little toe into a preset number of fragments without even touching the valuable, newly paved city streets beneath"

And don't call me Shirley!!!

Max,don't pay ant attention to this guy I think hes a
relative of the CM. I don't understand any of the BS he puts on here either. He could be a politician as he has an excuse for ever thing that's wrong with Salem. Now he's trying to multi-sect my toes there's a word for that kind of behavior.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Capricorn

You're in the mood to spend some money today. That's fine if you've got it, because you'll have a wonderful time strolling around the shops. But it isn't such good news if you're supposed to be sticking to a strict budget because that will be well nigh impossible once you've seen something that catches your eye. It will keep saying 'Buy me, buy me!'
