Sound Off! (Oct. 5)

Full story: Las Cruces Sun-News

On TV, they're talking about how we should stay home if we're sick. I've seen people coughing and spitting up all over the place.

"A commuter rail from Juárez to Denver ... just what we need. Nobody dares go to Juárez, but let's make it easier for even more Mexicans to enter the U.S. As if 12-plus million illegals aren't enough"

No kidding. Maybe they could call this train the Democratic party train.

They should make this train go one way, south receiving only. BTW, the 12 million number was like a decade ago.

There are people in Las Cruces who wonder why victims of crime don't want to co-operate with the police. They won't talk to them. Yeah, why? You can't trust these police.

Then dont call them when you need them!!! Thats such BS, your going to treat all officers the same because a few make the rest look bad??? Amazing!!!!

"I can't believe someone in the ER with swine flu does not have priority. Unbelievable."
Someone with the flu, and yes it is THE FLU, will not be priority unless they are having respiratory distress. The heart attack, acute asthma attack, diabetic ketoacidosis will all go before a flu. Why? Because they are in imminent danger. Your cough is not going to get you an immediate pass to a bed. People who are dying from H1N1 are stricken by Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS, look it up). If you are not is distress, you are not priority. That is how an EMERGENCY room works.

I didn't know NMSU even had a parking garage! Maybe these people are at the wrong campus? There are plenty of parking spaces at NMSU but most people are too lazy to get there a few minutes early and/or walk a little ways.

I had a cough over the weekend, I must have had swine flu too! Good thing I don't need the ER to feed me and wipe my butt.

At the intersection right before going into WalMart on Valley Drive, a stop sign is covered by a tree. If someone is not acquainted with the area, they could run that stop sign and maybe cause an accident.
I didn't know there even was a stop sign on Valley Drive. That tree should be cut down!

Is there any way we can rig the traffic light cameras to ticket the people who sit unmoving in their cars and stare at a green light like it's the Second Coming? Or to ticket the people who seem to think that they have to wait until the car in front of them is five car lengths ahead before they can go?
Finally someone who knows what they are talking about! I can't count the number of times I have had to wait for a second or third green light because people aren't paying attention.

NMSU is moving all of the parking to the outskirts of campus. It is a part of the Master Plan. If you want to read more about it, go here ... http://masterplan.nmsu.edu/master.html

Last month my daughter called me and said she wasn't feeling well. I went to pick her up, there were 9 kids waiting to see the nurse. Two weeks before that, I kept her home because she had a scratchy throat and a cough. She was out a total of 6 days in that month. I called the school each time to let them know she wasn't feeling well. I went to the school and picked up her homework and told them again she wasn't feeling well and I wasn't sure how long she'd be out. When she went back she had a note. A week later I get a letter from LCPS admin. saying we needed to do an INTERVENTION on why she was absent so much! GET REAL! I was appalled. I wanted call and yell at them but I figured it wouldn't do any good they are all idiots anyway.

Let's ask Mariano Martinez of the Dona Ana Mutual Domestic Water Consumer's Association if he would be willing to build the sewage treatment plant right next to his house and his neighbors homes and see what they would do. I think they would raise a stink!

WTF are you doing in the emergency room exposing all the people who need real emergency care? You ever hear of a doctor appointment? What a moron. You wouldn't happen to have a Nazi flag flying in your backyard, would you?

What I wonder is why are we paying our council people so much when Farmington is just about the same size a City as Las Cruces?

Yeah, according to new math 38,000 is about the same as 100,000. To those of us that went to school where they required that we take (and pass) math classes, Las Cruces is roughly THREE times larger. Do some research before you post stupid comments

They're having problems parking in the garage at NMSU because there isn't one.

That's great. It's good to know that the professors of city planning have taught their students well. Wait! You can't major in city planning at NMSU? Well, good for the professors of traffic engineering! Wait! You can't get a degree in traffic engineering there either? Well, I am sure this was a good research project for the entomology department, I hear the science of tracking ant trails is hot! Let's hope students can hop on the ant carivans so they can get to class on time.

Does the college realize this will forever be a commuter campus? As many dorms as they wish to build, it is still less expensive to live at home while you work your way through school part time and that, my friends, will require students driving to class and parking. Fantasy FAIL.

lol...that's because most of the people in charge in Las Cruces, gov't & school authorities, are some of the most @$$backward individuals in the country. They tell you one thing and then they will come back and bite ya in the hiney. Just make sure you keep everything documented on who you spoke to and at what times for reporting your daughter ill. Make sure to keep copies of all the excuse notes, and/or doctors notes you have submitted otherwise they will hold you, the parent, responsible for her absences through the juvenile court system and she will lose credits towards her courses. In the school district's new attendance policy medical excuses are valid with documentation. Hope this helps.

Maybe it is time to sue your agent for nondisclosure? You could have moved when you first got wind of the possibility of the feared plant. It's not going to be as bad as you think. It is just the thought of it that has you up in arms. You use toilet paper in the public restrooms without considering the mix of toilet water mist that coats everything in the stall. You are going to survive. If it turns out as bad as you fear, at least you can pass gas and blame the Hope Plant instead of the dog.

Re: the closing of hwy70 for a movie
I guess it was the city council that allowed this. However, this is a federal highway. Did the federal DOT sign off on this? Is our fair city about to be fined by the feds for closing off a federal highway without proper permission?

That's a very good idea. And a ticket for those morons who leave more than 3-5 feet between vehicles or do not pull up to where their bumper is at the stop bar or crosswalk edge, if there is no stop bar. These thoughtless individuals cause much of the congestion in town.

Yes, yelling would only make them defensive and they would try to make your life miserable, after all they are the authorities (>:}). But, they still need to be set straight or this will be on record and will cause problems later. If left unresolved, it will become fact!

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Sagittarius

Moodiness is never far away today, making you over-react to problems and giving you a tendency to take out your feelings on your nearest and dearest. If someone asks you what's really wrong, you'll struggle to explain and may even have to give up because you can't put it into words. It's like an itch that you can't scratch, and you don't know where it stems from or what it means.
