I have to disagree with part of your post. WIC is a great program. Kids are getting nutritional food during a prime time of their development. The part about WIC that I like in comparison to food stamps, is that for WIC they are more or less told specifically what they can get with options limited. For example, what types of milk they can choose from, what types of cereal, etc. But the fact that WIC is only for specific types of food. Whereas, food stamps can be used for junk food in addition to whatever other food items a person might buy. I really wish they would set some specific goals for what foods could be purchased with food stamps

They used to, eons ago. It seems every year they change. Now you can get precooked food. Next thing you know they can go to restaurants.

not all though. My kids and wife and are are skinny and athletic and poor.

Why should children be punished because our economy is awful? No child should go to bed hungry and many do! Some of the kids on free lunch get what is provided at school not because the parents wouldn't like to give them a hot meal but because our system cheats some people! I thank God my children are not affected but pray for the ones that are!

Why should children pay for our failures? Our generation has been wasteful and greedy. Mega amounts of food has been thrown away in certain places that could have fed many hungry people. Not to mention the money that has been spent bailing out people that have spent money selfishly. Our country was founded on fellowship. United we stand, divided we fall. Lending a helping hand to your neighbor use to be the way things used to be whether they were rich or poor was the way things were when the world was a better place. I dont know how people can sleep at night thinking its ok to deprive a child from eating.

Have you ever volunteered and even contributed some of the food to a kitchen for the unfortunate? Dont be jealous of whats given to them, get genorous and hand a hungry child a plate and watch his eyes light up, his color change, and his expression of gratitude. It might feed that empty place in you.

Have you had your head out of the sand lately. The forclosed houses are mostly the nicer houses that were conned into buying over their budget. I totally agree with you 100%.. There are some lame cruel people in this world..Could this really be the end of time?? Something to think about,I myself,really thinks so.Theres ALOT of kids who have parents that do try and take care of there kids,But theres ALOT of people that are on a fixed income..Im on one,and its rough tryin to pay bills the way this economy is THANKS to Sr & Jr..But NUFF SAID!!! Taxpayer, I don't know if you are saying the wealthy pay to much or not enough, what I do know is that the wealthy pay the majority of the taxes in the US and their funds support the largest majority of all welfare. The lower income earners often receive more back in refunds than they paid in. So saying that the wealthy seem to be paying alot of taxes.
Secondly, greed didn't send the jobs overseas, survival did. I own a company, my prices were 40% higher than my competition, the chinese import. Two things happened, NAFTA, and Americans jumping ship and buying everything from the cheaper source or Wal-Mart to save a buck. Once this happened and Americans are no longer buying from me I have a choice, close the company and let 40 people go, or start buying less expensive crap from China so I can keep my company and keep my employees.
If there was greed it was from the welfare recepiants, trying to save an extra buck to go by their cigarettes since the welfare check and food stamps that I as a high taxpayer through the company gave them. You can't have it both ways, you can't tax me to death, give my money to the less fortunate, and then have them give it to China, it just doesn't work. At some point in time, I have to give up or join the Chinese.

I don't know where I fall but I pay taxes in without return and have to pay again at tax time. I can understand you point to a certain point. But its also survival for working class. Nobody wants to buy cheaper quality but in order to put food on the table sometimes there is no choice. Maybe the whold country has jumped ship. I know it was said on the news today that the middle class people are narrowing down. Soon we will all be learning Chinese and I still say greed had alot to do with it. No matter how poor I get I couldn't deny a child a warm meal. Some say the shcool lunch is the only meal some of the children get. I would rather know my taxes are going for something like that than some of the things it does go for.

We are paying for some dinners that cost anywhere from 500 to 2000. Nobody is complaining about that.

We the people have know idea what we are paying in Washington DC for congreesmans perks they just there about 7 mths out of the yr cut their salary in half to start with and go from there.174,000 for 7mths not bad plus benefits.

I wonder what congress and their staff have for lunch every day at the taxpayers expense. Steak, Lobster and Martinis... That could be a thousand people a day we pay for. Thats just congress.
