Is there no fitness standards for police officers? I am amazed when I see an obese Police Officer. Makes one wonder what they would do in a situation where a foot chase was necessary. Seems to me the outcome of that would be the criminal would excape and the officer would be at risk of a heart attack. Or the officer in an atempt to not be bested would simply shoot or mace the perp. Please do no take my comments in the wrong vein. I have the utmost respect for those who choose to put their lives on the line for our protection. It just seems we would want the most physically fit persons on that job. If there is an officer that is over weight then put them on a desk job I just can't see that they could serve the publics best interest being that out of shape.

I think there is when they start on the force but after that it is McDonalds and Donuts for 20 years while sitting in a car. As for a chase, bullets travel faster than people.

So you are saying that a fat cop should just pull his weapon and shoot a man or woman in the back?
Eating donuts and McDonalds is a personal choice for them..I have some friends in another town that packs their husband's lunch or supper and also healthy snacks...so it these cops choose to take years off their life by pigging out on everything is sight..that is up to them but please let's not suggest they shoot whomever in the back.

Yes it is their choice to pig out and get as huge as a hog. But there should be consequences for their actions. Personally I think officers should have a fitness evaluation every year and be expected to maintain a set level of physical fitness. It should also be the publics choice to fire their fat asses if it is deamed they can't handel the physical rigors of the job.

In some department it is mandatory to go to the gym & WORK OUT but the tab is picked up by that department. Most of ours are fit. I have seen many that I would not want backing me up. That brings up another issue. Is the person you are working with able to cover your back Or will they cause you more danger.

The same could be said about the ambulance crews. Either a tiny female is sent out to haul a normal size male and she can't do it, or a very large crew person that cannot breath is over the patient trying to get vitals.

Well I can't speak for the other "Bloggers" but I am sitting here on my bony butt snacking on some grapes and Triscuit ctackers. I personally could care less how big a person is if it makes them happy. But when a persons physical well being is connected to the public interest it becomes a concern. I was prompted to post this thread after seeing a City of Salem officer today getting out of his SUV flushed, sweating profusely and laboured breathing. He also is about 150 pounds overweight. It was apparent he would be of little use in an emergency situation. I wouldnt want to see an anorexic in the same situation.

I believe that if you have a problem with someone you should tell them about it. Instead of posting a blog about them. GET UP AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. If they can do their job and be 300 lbs than owell more power to them

Its really not that hard to figure who is overweight, just watch and see who can hardly get in and out of their car, shouldn't have to mention names.Just look around a little.Oh and I guess I Wander is your real name????? Wheres your b@lls?

Well, leave the fatties alone, no matter their jobs. Obama Health Care is going to MAKE them slim down, or they will be penalized re: their medical treatment.
Everyone that is over weight will be thin in about 2 years. No fat cops, no fat kids, no fat anybody.
So this problem is over.

Has anyone noticed when you are shopping or in church, the over weight majority?

I cannot believe adults are posting this. This sounds like high school. Grow up and let people be. If they are fat or ugly maybe you all should look in the mirror

Daily Horoscope for November 26

Capricorn

The Moon enters your fourth house of home and family today, urging you to spend more time with your loved ones. There may be trouble brewing at home, so head it off at the pass before tomorrow, when conditions are right for a blowout. Take the time to really listen to what the people you live with are saying. If you live by yourself, you might want to water your plants and talk to them for a while; they miss you.
