no oxy zone???

hello everyone i was driving around malden and i happend to notice a sign that said no oxy zone.....wut are they talking about and how can i prove what it means???

I have no idea what that means.

Where was the sign? Was it on a drug store? It could mean it that it is a no Oxycontin zone, and that it is not sold in the area... that is the only thing I can think of.

i live in malden and i see these signs around in random places but i have no idea wat they mean. but i doubt its no oxyxcotin zone because it doesnt really make sense

I can remember a while back when people were robbing drug stores for the oxycontin and many places stopped selling it and stores began putting signs in their windows letting mostly the public know (and in essense thieves)it would not be sold there. Since Mike did not mention the context that he saw those signs it was the only thing I could think of.

It's the city trying to pretend that they are serious about the drug problems in the city. Meanwhile, Maplewood Square has become a haven for dealers.

No oxycontin zone is what its saying....... I guess they got it right too because it is a no oxy zone now-a-days..... it transformed from an oxy zone into a heroin zone on the north shore, so I guess they technically have it right.

These signs are Malden's answer to the HUGE drug epidemic here! Cities and towns receive Federal monies to establish drug education programs, etc.

Melrose uses this money in a much more effective way, by having city wide and school conferences / meetings. They also distribute pamphlets to parents in order to enlighten them of the terrible drug epidemic upon us. They teach them to be aware of what drugs kids are using and offer advise on the signs of drug use, where to get help etc.

But Malden, just has to maintain its reputation as the worst city on the North Shore. How genius of them huh? Conversation of the leaders of Malden's leaders: "Gee, we have this Federal grant money to fight drugs,um,so what is the best way to use it?" "Oh, I know!" "LET"S HANG SIGNS!!!" "THAT WILL GET RID OF IT!" DUH!

Readers beware,if you have children and are considering moving to Malden, DON'T! STOP! The education is POOR! The drop out rate is high, and our youth are not being educated or being kept safe from DRUGS! Last year in three short months, I attended funerals of 3 young men, all living in the area's of the 'NO OXY ZONE' signs. So sad!

well, malden is all immigrants now, if you go to stop and shop they all have food stamps. and we have to work and pay taxes so they get free food and healthcare. what a joke.

well, john, my grandparents came from russia, they learned to speak the language, get a job, no welfare or foodstamps and didnt spend time commiting crimes and going to jail. get it??

The term "No Oxy Zone" refers to the highly addictive opiate called "Oxy Contin". The signs you have seen are similar to the "Drug Free Zone" signs you see in school districts.

pete, the united state is an immigrants' country. can't say that immigrants bring in bad things and make this town worse. actully, lots of new comers in Malden are well educated and making good money at work,malden is their first step because of its location, they moving out to better towns after couple years, the real reason that bring down this town is more and more blacks, also because of its location (close to Boston and have orange line), mostly , blacks brings nothing but crimes, just like Dorchest, Lynn, Roxbury..., so , when a town has a higher and higher percentage of black population, it is time to think about moving. so sorry to say that, but it is fact in USA.
