This has been a sad day for me. Today my 6 year old grandson said to me that he can't go in the pool anymore unless he is with and enrolled. He said his daddy is enrolled but his mommy isn't. He wondered why him and his sister were not allowed. His sister is 19 and she was allowed to go swimming before the pool was new. It is sad that a six year old already knows he is not the same as his friends. What are we teaching the kids by doing this?

Really, I saw some littl black kids swimming there. They can't be enrolled. Can they go there if they are with an enrolled Seneca? Just what is enrolled anyway?

How do they know who is enrolled? Do little kids have to carry a card with them? Some of the kids I go to school with look just like Indians but they aren't allowed to go there.

This is a case of rob porter over compensating for being truly white. He and his wife denied being native their entire lives, until it would benefit them. He is now trying to prove just how native he is by trying to divide everyone and discriminating against anyone who isn't enrolled. Rob porter, I've got news for you, you are white and there are plenty of "non enrolled" who are a lot more seneca than you and your wife can ever pretend to be. Your nieces and nephews are not enrolled, and your own children look even whiter than you do. Do you hate them and discriminate against them too?

this is exactly why people dont want or dont care to go to their functions. We dont know what we are allowed to be a part of and what we aren't.

Usually this is how it goes. No one pays any attention until it happens to them. Our community centers have turned into babysitting facilities. Parents now know that they can just drop their kids off there. But i agree that yes we should collect a membership fee to non natives. If you go to a gym or any other place you have to pay a membership. Im sure if parents pay attention to the rules before they send their little kids with their older siblings they shouldnt have a problem.

this whole thing got blown out of whack; I think the grandmother was correct. what r we teaching r kids. I know it is a nation owned swimming pool but why cant all kids swim there? Native or not we all live on reservation here. And for that boy having to wonder why he isnt allowed to swim is wrong. Especially when his father is native. I have lived in this town my whole life and I feel like the town is seperating instead of being a whole and we should work together on making this town work.

That is so strange Native Grandma because the same thing happened to me the other day. We were taking our little grand-daughter, who is Seneca on her father's side, but our daughter is white. She said "there's that pool. I can't go in it unless I'm with an enrolled. My Grandma is enrolled and my Dad is but my Mom isn't." I don't think she even understands, and I don't think I do either. I do know that it is affecting these little kids though. So sad!
