THE CHILDREN OF ROOSEVELT HAVE A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO ATTEND WELL FUNDED, WELL EQUIPPED, SAFE SCHOOLS.
THAT IS WHY THE ROOSEVELT SCHOOL DISTRICT OUGHT TO BE MERGED WITH THE BELLMORE/MERRICK SCHOOL DISTRICT.
ONE HIGHWAY, IS ALL THAT SEPARATES THEM. ARBITRARILY DRAWN, RACIST DISTRICT LINES NEED TO FALL AS THEY ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

MERGE THE DISTRICTS. BUS THE CHILDREN TO JOHN F. KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL. USE BROOKSIDE AND JERUSALEM AVENUE FOR THEIR INTENDED PURPOSE, EDUCATION OF THE YOUTH OF THE COMMUNITY.

RACIST DISTRICT LINES NEED TO FALL AS THEY ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
Hang on a minute. I attended Roosevelt Schools in the 50s and 60s, long before there was a black community in the school. The "lines" of the school boundary were just as they are now. How cheap it is to play the racist card.

How cheap it is to play the racist card. So what happened to the schools? Oh they ruined their schools and neighborhoods and we are supposed to let them ruin three more school districts? Nope don't think so!

Put the blame where it belongs - on the Commissioner of Education and the Board of Regents.
If the district is having financial problems why have a starting salary for the Superintendant at $200,000 a year.

Busing black and spanish children from roosevelt into all white bellmore merrick will not work. It didn't work in Canarsie Brooklyn when they bused all the black children from Brownsville Brooklyn to all white (italian & jewish) canarsie. When the busing started all the whites fled from canarsie and alot to strangly enough Bellmore Merrick. Now canarsie is 100% black and the school district is one of the worst performing in brooklyn. That would happen to Bellmore-Merrick. It would just turn all black and spanish if you started busing. All the whites would run away to another nearby town.
