Nassau to roll out new police academy

Well first of all the cadets never step foot in the jail. they drive by a couple of gatehouses and the so called trailers are where all correction personnel are trained as cadets and future training. I guess Suozi is behind the police now while corrections is still without a contract. We're expected to give back like the police and not receive like the police. What a joke.

During my career as a Nassau County Police officer, this the fourth time that the academy has been relocated. It started in headquarters, moved three times since; to an elementary school, the community college, and then to the jail in 1996. The county should've built a permanent police academy facility, in the area of Mitchel Field, a long time ago.

Do you know when is the next ncpd academy and where are they up to on list?

I heard the new class has been postponed again until Jan. Has anybody heard anything on that? I also need to know the answer to your question.

Last thing I heard was that the academy is suppose to start the first week in NOV and that was coming from the CO of the academy. As for the list dying..I heard that if you did your processing completely and signed the conditional hire form which people who went through the processing know what im talking about that you cant die on the list...you are merely on Standby until the academy goes in. I have heard rumors of the academy being pushed back to Jan but nothing confirmed. Even though that sucks if you have been leeping up with the Nassau police contract..thats great news cause Acadeny pay starts at 34,000 a year and then after one year you move up to around 63,000k.

Who can you call to find out when the academy Will open? How ferm is that Nov date?

Last I heard that NOV date is still in but that can change at anytime.

I have been called and I was 87.5 and their were 75 after me called in Aug for the Oct class

Do you remember how long before your start date at the academy that you recieved the apointment letter? I have heard that they can inform you anywhere from two to three weeks before you start, was that the case for you?

next class will be in jan 07

how many classes will they hire from 2003 exam?

How accurate is that date in Jan.

Ok I spoke with my source again today and nothing is in stone. As for how long can they give you between the time they call and the time the academy starts. You can be called on a Friday and start on a monday. Just remember for everyone that says thats bull and not fair..there are 1000's waiting to take our spots. They can do whatever they want. Also keep in mind our investigators have to do a Recap meeting with us before the academy starts. I have not had mine yet so I dont see the academy starting soon. Anyone else have theres??

I had my recap meeting, though haven't been scheduled for Agility. I hear first week of November as well, I hope my source is right.

Have you had your agility yet? If so, do you mean they will have another recap (2 in total) after all of the processes in prep of the academy?

From what I hear, the new academy isn't completed yet. Thats not a good sign!

I had my recap meeting this past week, to update all of my information. I was informed that the legislature met and the academy would be starting in January of 07 and not before, but that could change. Hopefully it does!!

I heard that this class is supossed to be put in december. I have finished everything. i dont know what else i have to do. I heard that there is locker room issues that is what is holding up the academy

okay, this is the scoop ...

I work in Brooklyn right now and my Sgt. is best friends with Karen O'Callahan who is the chief of the Nassau Academy. Word is and she wouldnt give a definte answer that the class is being pushed back to January. As for people who are processing. You should be 100% done with all your processing up until this point. If not there is a chance you will be in the class after this one coming up. They are expecting to put in about 80-120 people. I was done processing back in May 06 and I was number 48 for this group of people. You take your polygraph in your list order. The academy in Massapequa is not done yet and is part of the reason for the hold up. Everyone will have a Recap 2-3 weeks before the actual academy starts to make sure we have gotten collared or whatever. Ill keep us informed if i hear anything else
