This is certainly a great day. She is well-deserving. It is great that he chose someone who can relate to common people. I spoke this morning to a naysayer, a person who thinks that she is just an Affirmative Action baby. I, on the other hand, will stand up for her. Certainly Affirmative Action helped her get where she is; if not, she would never have been given the chance. And, it is entirely possible that she is not the most brilliant legal mind in the country at this time (but who can really judge that?). However, she is just as qualified as everyone else on the Supreme Court. So, naysayers, voice your opinion but realize that no one is perfect, though she may in fact be perfect at this time for the Supreme Court. www.dimequecrees.com

Typical raza feedback...You're either too Latino, or not enough. Minorities, including Latinos, will always be judged, in the worst way, by their own. You're either ostracized for speaking proper english and adopting the American way or looked down upon for eating tripitas and partaking in your roots...
I've traveled all over the world and I can tell you one thing, Generally, all ethnicities, nationalities and native groups will usually help each other out, especially as immigrants to a new country. All groups, that is, except Mexicans. Mexicans are the first to screw their own type and keep each other down. It's embarrasing and sad, as I'm 2nd generation Mexican-American born and raised in El Paso.

How true, how true. Just like the fable about the man who went to the seafood market. He walked up to a merchant who was selling live crabs. In one basket he had Asian crabs. In another basket, black and hispanic crabs. The Asian basket was covered while the black and hispanic basket was open. The man asked the merchant why the one basket was covered and the other one not. The merchant replied: "The black and hispanic crabs pull each other down when one tries to get out. The Asians help each other out."

She is a bigot - look at what she had said and her writings.

ie, A bigot (in modern usage) is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own or intolerant of people of different ethnicity, race, or class.

TRUE!! There agenda definitely in most cases are different. Puerto Rican are US citizen by birth therefore they do NOT have to cloak themselves under such illegal documentation and deception. One Social Security cards for life is all they need.

There has been no offical reports about this Nominee, and already people are judging her by her nationality, rumor, because she is female or because what some fat man on the radio says.

How about we all act like educated people (even if we are not) and wait for the truth before water boarding the lady.

This is a Great nomination!!

Kudos to President Obama on his choice for Supreme Court Judge. Sotomayor is a very experienced judge educated in Princeton for her undergraduate work. She then Yale Law school,(The most prestige in the USA at Top honor). She has trial lawyer experience which is more that any Judge nominated for the Supreme Court.

She is an inspiration to Latinos and women any where especially if you happen to be Boricua.

and you still wonder why Puerto Ricans do not like you. its stupid comments like this that keep your OWN "raza" down in the dumps. Unil you overcome the stepping-down of your own race, you will never move forward. As a Puerto Rican in the el paso community, I can say that we stick together and help each other out whenever possible. My wife (who is mexican) has even commented about how we stick together as a race and wishes the mexican race would that as well.

Well said, what a shame that the person who first posted is the example that you talk about. I for one was born in Mexico and came to the United States at the age of 2. My family from Mexico dislikes me because I seem to white to them. Mexicans cant seem to be happy for their own race, they will put you down in a heart beat if you succeed.

If Sonia Sotomayor's mother is from Puerto Rico, then her mother could not be an immigrant since residents of Puerto Rico are, by law, U.S. citizens. Would you write that she is the daughter of an immigrant mother if the mother relocated to New York from, say, California? No, of course not. Our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters are also our fellow citizens.

Daily Horoscope for February 9

Aries

Mercury the messenger is tested by warrior Mars now, so don't fall over your feet in your hurry to go somewhere or get everything done at once. Act quickly and instinctively but make sure you can tell the difference between speed and haste. There could be conflict with friends, and money might be at the root of it. You may be overspending as you race towards your goals. Rein in a little.
