I am a customer at lake caroline and I have been waiting to see documents on the company to see if all rumors were true before talking.
Well every customer in lake caroline needs to read the SCC staffs report posted last night. I pay my bill each month on time and in person at the water plant office. I have seen the employe's working (sometimes long hours in the summer ) since spring 2005 to keep the filters going long enough for the funds to fix. They lost that battle as you know this spring 2009. thank you guys at lake caroline for that long hard effort!!!! Well folks i will not keep you waiting any longer. It seems there was enough money all along to fix our filters and the empoyees and residents were being miss led. The report notes personal loans to the president when our plant was failing and payments to other corps that he owns that he was told by SCC not to do pay any longer. The residents should be either chosing the county for management of this water company or another third party. Otherwise we will just be doing this again next rate increase. |

some people can only pick on the small things like a small spelling error. Do you want to check the rest of the site for spelling errors.
Maybe instead you need to make a comment that makes a difference or adds an another point of view. |

There is more to this than meets the eye. The County and the POA are conspiring against Ladysmith Water Company to deny them the funds they need to upgrade, so that the County can take over the plant without paying for it. But, legal matters aside, all I can say is that, since the county started supplying water to Lake Caroline, the water is undrinkable, and often has a distinct brown color. The water was clear, and drinkable, when Ladysmith Water Company was supplying it.

As has been said before, the owner of the water company has gotten loans and rate increases over the years to make the necessary repairs/upgrades/upkeep...the money disappeared and was never accounted for and the repairs and upkeep never done. Hard to feel sorry for him.
the brown water is due to the pipes not being properly maintained/flushed over the years and now the muck is being stirred by the new water pressure. |

Also, I have noticed that my ice cubes stick to the ice trays. It's a real pain in the butt to get them out. Anyone else have that problem? Oh, I guess you'll just blame that on the OLD water system too, right?

Sorry, but it appears you're making excuses for your employer, the water company. No conspiracy at all on the part of the locals. I think the conspiracy all along has been the water company owner up in NJ counting his cash and laughing at us down here in VA thinking we're a bunch of hicks. BTW, my water is NOT brown and has been clear ever since the beginning of April and doesn't taste like Clorox (YUK!:-()like it did before. |

My toilet kept running the other day...that must be due to the county water...and my car hasn't been getting as good gas mileage...must be the county water.....right Trevor?

It is not over till the fat lady sings.
I am always amazed at how the poster always starts a good topic that is informed and the rest of you beat it to death with unimportant comments. How many of you have even went to the web site that the poster noted and looked at what they wrote about. Well I did and it was quite interesting when you read the staff report. I am waiting for the return comments from the water company on the staff report. should be good. Ps Im glad that you have clean water ivnws4u but the rest of us at back of lake near tank are not so lucky as you. maybe i need to move to your area of the lake to get clean water. I do not think trever is an employee there are only two and they have been to flush my street three times and they have did not use the name trever.(one was a women) |

Would be nice if people could be serious, the water is important.

thanks srotarepo- you are actually proving the case AGAINST the water company.
The reason why people near the water tower are getting brown water and the rest of the lake isn't, is because the water has reversed direction. For decades your water flowed FROM the water tower, now it is flowing FROM the county hook up TOWARDS the water tower. So all those years of neglect of the water system have left all kinds of dirt and debris in the pipes that is now being stirred up. All that can be done is to continue trying to flush the pipes...and perhaps, in time, they will have to be replaced due to the years of neglect. |

never sided with water company owner as you assume. I have sided with proven actions. and i assume that the local workers do not controll the money for the water company.
The rest you need to check your science classes from high school. The water system had higher pressure when the tank had water in it. At this time the tank on american drive is empty and has been since the plant shut down. This lakes mains were made for the tank to be the supply and pressure not the front gate!!! Oh was the brown water today the result of dirty mains or something else? Say water company mains and you are wrong. there was a main break in carmel church that made the brown water. I guess you can not blame everything on the evil water company either. |

#1- you are again saying what I said, but in an argumentative tone....the water USED TO come from the water tower, now it does not. The water is coming from a different direction which is stirring up the sediment, etc.
#2- I dont know of anyone other than you that had brown water today, so you may want to recheck your facts. SOunds like it was just your area again! |

lol Well ssdd in defense of the poster on back of lake. The tea colored water was on my street near the front gate. I called the gate and was told they had already received other calls and their water was tea colored also. My water was not brown but the color of tea and I have this color or a light yellow at least 2 times a month.(try doing whites)
I am a strong supporter of removing the water company management not the water from our community. Is it so hard for some of you to admit we had good water from our plant. This is in no way a postive reflection on the water company owner but one for the local people how ran the plant. To anyone who has not had brown, yellow or rusty well you are either very lucky, or you have a filter hooked up. Every customer deserves clean water to their homes and we as a comminunity should not be telling them to suck it up and deal. |

call the water company and report the problem This will help all residents. They have to log all customer complaints and what they did to fix the problem.
they told my husband that this also helps them determine how the system has changed since the flow and pressure has changed. This will enable them to make changes to fix the problems. The more info they have the better |
||||
|
The county also wants to know where the brown or tea-colored water is and they will come out to check it. They really don't have to do this because their duty stops at the hookup at the gate, but they are. Call public works.
