So now it seems we have beautiful steel structure to admire daily for who knows how long. Wonder if they'll get a bailout with our taxpayer dollars?

Well Carl, hope your City Bank, NM didn't have anything to do with a lousy loan. After all we wouldn't want a bad neighborhood bank, be affected by a bad loan. On second thought, how are your loans doing now, Carl?

Although I am for growth, I realize that this county is all about tourism. Every time there is an economic down turn, we get hit. Remember how long the building that now houses the Ruidoso Police Department sat empty? Every time I see a new venture I ask myself, "how will that fair in the next recession". Now that we are facing an economic future that many economists are comparing to the depression, what now? I guess we just sit back and watch as over extended people dump vacation plans and second homes in an effort to hold on to just the basics. Hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

What a surprise this is. An ill fated decision to destroy the outline of Ruidoso with ugly condos and a steel unfinished parking garage. You have to love the foresight of our planning and zoning commission. Hey Glen, way to go dude!

Having worked on the project, i know those condos are not safe to live in. Do to the sheetrock that got soaked and soaked and soaked from the rains in 2005-2006. The moldy sheetrock was never replaced just covered up. It ranges in color from green to black. Hope no one that buys them has respritory problems!

I've have heard there are more problems with the construction of the project. How is Zagone going to cover this up when he tries to sell these up-scale condos to his high-end buyers?

might have known. this company came in chopped down all the trees. had a big fandango going. now they're going. Ruidoso needs to stop some of the developement that ruins the charm of this quaint little community that is so fun to come to. Ruidoso is just fine like it is. If it ain't broke DON'T FIX IT!

When first coming to Ruidoso a few years ago, the River Crossing Development was truly an enormous "eye sore". It looked and looks misplaced and takes away from the local charm of Ruidoso.
I do hope the city management of Ruidoso Village
has a plan to remove this property so the shell won't remain unfinished for years to come. What proper investment company would want to buy and develop this poorly thoughtout project.
Shame on the Ruidoso City Council who originally approved this River Crossing. You owe your communities' residents a HUGE apology, and NOW some solutions.

I knew this project would fail when I saw the man who was building it with his expensive car in the photos, who was he trying to impress? Not the people who might have the money to buy one of these condos. I have seen low income housing that looked better than this project! Maybee it can be turned into something usefull now.I feel sorry for the people who are getting hurt.

Seems like lots of people feel the same as you when they drive past that pitiful structure and "plastic" retail several times a day....but why aren't those people calling their councilors and Mayor to get the answers? 4 of the councilors that voted unanimously for the project(and the Mayor, who was a councilor at that time),are still seated. The truth is, no one can make whoever the owner is now....either finish it or tear it down. Not only that, there have been NO measures taken to make sure it does not happen again. It can happen right downtown such as with the approval of the Riddle project. THere are NO sanctions against non-completion, half completed projects. Not only that, don't you feel a little "lied to" when you read about the village attorney stating that River Crossing would be "slinging steel" and finish the still un-finished building by January of 2008. And where was that "steel slinging" taking place? It wasn't here. Doesn't it make you a little distrustful of the whole bunch over there at City Hall? And don't you wonder how much they are all being paid to lie to us? Maybe you should ask????

Payoff / Paycheck?
Where in the world is John Hamilton? The big Houston developer who threatened to take his project somewhere else if he didn't get his approval the day he flew into town on his private jet.
WHere is the mayor who pushed the approval and went to work for Hamilton the next week?(he's now selling Village property as a realtor) Where is the "Deputy" Cleatus who manipulated the whole project through p&z and council and then went to work for Hamilton?(he is now manipulating projects in Ruidoso Downs)
Where is the city manager in charge when this project was approved(check out the bank that now is the owner of this project!!!)
Where are those contractors that had to file huge liens against the project?(they are gone and broke)
Where is all the gross receipt $$$ that this project would generate as per the then Chamber Director? "5 million a year"(-0-0-0-0-0)
Where is Ruth Chris?
Where are all the trees that were supposed to be saved around the project?
Where is the parking garage?
Where are the condo owners?
Where is the "public" river walk?
Where are the tourists who regularly questioned and complained about 1/2 finished buildings?
How about those "celebration" parties at local country clubs for VOR officials, department heads,Mayor, Councilors and spouses, compliments of Hamilton?
Where is the accountability?

Good questions, there is no accountability in the Village of Ruidoso. Listen to some realtors, they say no problems with the economy in Ruidoso. Even though sales are down 50%, and the market is flooded with houses for sale. The former mayor has his own real estate company, which I have heard is soon to close. Payback maybe! How many condos have sold, absolutely none.

I know Joe can sell real estate, but how can he be remotely serious when he says he was taken aback about the foreclosure posting.Com e on, Joe, really?

The ace reporting crew from the RN actually quotes a TWO YEAR OLD press release from Hamilton & Option 1.Has anything happened since then? They also state that Zagone has marketed the POS since its inception. Uh, what about Mayor Leon who went to work there after he got the thing approved? The article also makes it sound like the only reason there have been ZERO sales are there was not a cert of occupancy from the VOR until recently. Sure, and the only reason Ruth Chris' has not opened yet is because of the health dept. They also never mentioned if the liens have all been satisfied. How about a link to the actual public docs filed for the foreclosure and any liens still attached?

Pretty weak reporting. Surprise.

I would take a good long look at Leon Eggleston. When he was on the Eagle Creek board there was some crap going on and the U.S. Marshal's were looking for him. You can read it in the minutes to one of the meetings. The Marshall's showed up asking for him and he was absent. Next meeting he resigned. Hey Loen, where are the Eagle Creek Files? If Leon is involved there is something nefarious going on.

Eggleston and Bennie Coker had fun at Capitan City hall. They were pals there with Renfro. Ball room dancing for water power.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
