Its sad when a community event is thwarted for unnecessary means for personal gain.

Yea, tourist, when you come to Capitan, expect this kind of stuff on a daily basis. Tickets are the game, tickets are our fame. Smokey ain't got nothing on the local flatfoots!

I heard the young often rude officer called Mr. McCaw, "Old Man" in a harsh and offensive way. If the officer, as he claims, was there to look out for the elderly as he claims maybe he would have been better served in that claim to have not been so disrespectful to Mr. McCaw. Did the mayor or any of the Trustees reprimand officer bully or were they silent as usual as this rogue cop steamrolls over your village. Note: Ruidoso and the Coast Guard got rid of him for good reason.

Now let me guess who that "officer" was - I really have a problem call this man an officer. It's an insult for every good cop in your country as well as in any country.

I wonder what the heck he has to do more than he has already done to finally get sacked. Seriously, I don't get this. He's nothing but a trouble maker and he loves doing it. He enjoys being a bully. What town can afford to engage such person?

At the risk of herme telling me I am simply following the lead of bh and sad or anyone else, I have to agree. Why does Sam continue to let this guy bully Capitan? Why are the citizens not shown respect at the meetings and in all other walks of Capitan life? Bully is a word I have often used. But the better word is coward. You ask what town can afford such a person? Certainly not Capitan. It will cost in the end. One way or another.

It's a shame that a Captian citizen is ridiculed in a village meeting just to cover up the misconduct of an "officer". Unbelievable how in this town citizens are kicked in the butt.

Now you tell me - is this a wise thing to treat voting public like crap? When I saw the picture of the village meeting I saw a lot of people 50+- what do you think would they feel offended and embarrassed? Would this tell them something about who to vote for? Would they vote for the very same people that are responsible for this scandalous performance?.... Just guessing!

Smokey is respected the world over so it would seem he does have something the Capitan Cops don't have.

BH, how they treat the voting public is never on their agenda.I think they could care less. Don't know if the trustees reprimanded him for his rudeness, but I seriously doubt it. From what I hear, it was not the first time and probably won't be the last. Those elderly ought to kic.., well, never mind. You know where I was heading...lol.

This may be a big mistake - elderly people are voters and some of them might have their own opinion.....

But the past tells us how votes are counted in LC so you may be right - they couldn't care less...

"The cops never do anything!"

"The cops are writing too many tickets and are too visible!"

Which one to you want? No cops, or too many cops?

Did you even read the article, icle? There is a time and a place for police ,and I agree, this was not it. It was clearly not for the good of the "elderly", was it?

How about cops that do a CORRECT job, writing correct tickets, treating people correctly, have a correct work schedule and stick to it.... did you get it? The keyword is CORRECT. I know it is very rare in your region but still it's in the dictionary - or like my friend calls it d i c k e r y - you like in d i c k t a t o r or d i c k t e c t i v e. So look it up if you've never heard it before and read slowly and aloud. It's worth it!

The cops don't investigate crime and although they know very well who the drug dealers are they never do a damn thing about it but don't drive around with a tail light out or a cracked windshield. Give us all a freaking break with your low rent questions dirt bag thug. You get a free pass on your criminal behavior while good people have to worry about going 5 MPH over the speed limit.

My criminal behavior? I've never committed any crime. And as far as worrying about going 5 mph over the speed limit - don't drive over the speed limit, and then you don't have to worry about it.

Pick and choose, that is what the cops here do. Watch out for those elderly too, big problem in Capitan! They walk 2 miles per hour in the senior zone and might run over someone..just saying!
