It been full since it opened last week. Park on the backside on Butler or behind Brunnel's to the north and take the walkway between buildings. It's not as far as parking at Walmart.

Negativism is pervasive in this community! So sad.

The parking isn't really a problem. If I knew I was going to get an actual full serving of an Irish specialty, I wouldn't mind the walk. Still today, I saw a table full of old women snarf their food down. Fangs were out, fingers were licked and yes, it took awhile to get the food, but then they were trying to argue their way out of the tab. The couple next to me also came in for .... fish and chips! My lady friend had a salad for lunch and it was the size of a side salad, but took an hours and a half to make. She wanted to eat off my plate bute I was guarding my small serving with my life -beef in pastry....
I also don't think having children in the bar should be allowed. I was trying to enjoy my guiness and these two boys who had to be 3 or 4 were staring at me. Sorry, but kids are a big buzzkill for ole Herme.

"I was a psychology major, so I like to be able to look in someone's eyes and see what they got in them."

We had an absolutely terrible meal (paid in full) and requested to see the manager. The waitress said he was too busy to come by. He should have looked into our eyes on the way out. His education surely would have helped him recognize someone who wouldn't be coming back.

I predict the place will bomb. Small menu, poor service, lack of parking. Recipe for disaster.

I noticed in the smaller photo on the front page of Friday's paper that a cross was used to represent deceased veterans during the Ruidoso Middle School Salute to Veterans program.

I would want those middle schoolers to know that men and women from all religions are in our armed forces. Deceased veterans are remembered in cemeteries across our country with one of almost fifty religious emblems on their gravestones.

Thank you to all who have served.

Why are we mixing Church and State? This is what many fought against! I don't like it.

"Separation of Church and State" is not in the founding documents, it is a quote from a newspaper article around 1906. What the Founding fathers and Founding Documents refer to is the separation of the State from a State Sanctioned Church, as in The Church of England, the Church of Rome, Russian Orthodox. You will find nowhere in the founding documents where the framers of those documents thought faith shouldn't be a part of public life or included in public discourse or policy. Their writings are full of references to faith and God. What they were avoiding was a State Church that you had to belong to if you were to be allowed access to justice or public influence.

We do not even require our Village leaders or department directors to have an education, but yet you assume that a pub owner must now be educated? Since when?

Good God! This thread is linked and based on an article in the RN. The grandiose quotation is actually from the manager.

While funny, my response was truthful and based on my awful experience there. The town needs places like this and hopefully they can recover. It wont be with my help anytime soon.

I stopped posting here about politics because of dullards like you. Not worth the effort. You are not even smart enough to segue into your rants about the village without making something up. At least TRY and understand what you are posting to and about!

No, Big Problem, your response was not funny. However, I believe that in this instance you were being honest. Unfortunately, I've been out of town working since prior to its opening, but I am now back and am distressed by the recent reviews of the pub which I do intend to visit later today. The RN article was troubling, too. That "I was a psychology major, so I like to be able to look in someone's eyes and see what they got in them" comment was very unsettling to say the least. I wonder if he could look into Jerry Sandusky's eyes and see what he's got in him or Casey Anthony's, for that matter. Yes, Big Problem, you correctly identified the colossal self-aggrandizing comments of this local manager. Hmmmmm...... but did it ring a bell for you?

So, did you ever visit the pub? what was your opinion. We all value the opinion of you who has been around the block so many times.

Well, I went back again and had fish and chips. Don't think I got nearly enough fish or chips for the price and where is the malt vinegar? The drinks are well made though. Expensive, but stiff.

Just left there and it was a waisted $20.00 Fish and chips-Fish was a nice and thick cook just right. The problem was no flavor, Long john Silver's has more taste and less grease!. The tarter sauce was more mayo then anything and cold slaw had no taste. Sat at bar 5 minutes before anyone would acknowledge I was there. The couple beside me ordered thier meal before I arrived, I was served and almost finished as well as the other ocuple at the bar before they got there soup and sandwishes. She was mad and I don't blame her.

Sounds like the place isn't quite ready for prime time yet. Heck, for only $10 you can get great fish & chips at Landlocked on Wednesday nights. The service is good & the beer is cold!

You're in a very sociable mood and you're also feeling very easy-going, prepared to take people at face value and to turn a blind eye to their faults and foibles.
