Do You Like Grace Gonzalez as County Treasurer?

Let's evaluate all the elected representatives

There are many questions left unanswered in how she spends tax dollars on TRAVEL and other perks. I would not re-elect her. She is not a conservative in my view. So my answer would be NO.

She isnt running again so you couldn't re-elect her. She has done a good job - no one is perfect and if you have an unanswered question - why dont you call her and ask for an answer? Oh wait - you would rather sit behind your computer and complain.

She and Cathy Prather say they are fulltime. What Ive seen and heard is that they are full time on facebook, full time travlers on the county taxpayer dime, and full time gossipers about people -making up gossip that is. Sure is time for a change in that office.

Will she explain here why she spent over $13,000 on a trip to Washington DC this year with Two Commissioners and theri two friends? The hotel rooms for one commissioner were over $350 a night. Then she took her chief deputy to Portland for about $3000 per person. How can this be justified?

I think they believe they are entitled to go anywhere they want and get mileage and expenses reimbursed from the average Joe's pocket. They can probably come up with some imaginative justification.

Why doesn't Comm. Flores or Comm. Herrell say or do something about these outrageous expenditures as the budget experts? What are their ties to Grace Gonzales and Cathy Prather that lets her/him agree to these crazy $3000 trips?

Interesting stuff. Why do they spend so much in Washington DC, I thought they were supposed to be working here?

Registrations paid for Winter Conference in Santa Fe. This may well cost the county $1000 for Grace Gonzales and $1000 for Cathy Prather. Is it really necessary?

These people have been there for 20 years doing the "good old boy" back and forth system and they intend to keep it going if elected. I have been told that Grace will just switch places and become Cathy's $54,000 deputy.

I will vote for anyone else, Dem or Republican.

I have heard noone dares to question Cathe or Grace,including the commissioners because they are afraid of them for some reason? and that is why the commissioners overlook their lavish travel expenses.

If you were watching the bills lists like you would have us believe, you would know that THEY are not the ones abusing travel. If travel and waste was truly your issue, you would be pounding your fist over a certain commissioner's habits. It is obvious to me that you simply have a problem with THEM ... a political opponent perhaps?

This thread is discussing the title. Discussion of the commissioners can be had at "Who's Watching the County". If "follower2" has anything to elaborate on about the "commissioner's habits" then he/she should share the info. The information presented here seems to be factual and important.

The commissioners are in charge of all spending. They should be aware and in control of the budget. If the Treasurer and Vice Treasurer are spending out of control, the commissioners should put a stop to it. I personally hope there are opponents because these type of habits are usually a result of people in power too long.

I don't see any redeeming reason to like having her as Treasurer. Lets clean house this election year.

What isn't true about any of the info that has been laid out. glad to argue the facts. The truth hurts. Many of these long time dinosaur elected officials who just switch back and forth think they can do all the above listed things and spending habits but today it is all available on the internet, published on the county website. It is all factual as I can tell. Alot of good info on the "Who's Watching the COunty" also. It can be researched and proven true by looking primarily at the County Bills lists or just ask for a copy from county administration.

Grace, Cathy and all elected county officials - You can't go on $2500 trips anymore and expect it to be hush-hush.$200 dinners with wine in Washington, DC should not even be attempted to be paid for. Turning in a receipt like that for payment is unethical. Was it paid??? You should gladly justify your expenditures or not attempt to be paid for them. Chief deputies(Cathy Prather) in the Treasurers office have no business going to Portland, Oregon on the tax payer dime!! When someone talks about it, they try to go after the messenger.
