Evacuated areas remain closed

Full story: Ruidoso News

The arrival of 100 New Mexico Natural Guard troops will help with future evacuations for the 26,000 acre Little Bear Fire and with ensuring people don't try to drive back to their homes before areas can be reopened safely.

The governor has let power go to her head (ms. martinez) she has the police doing nazi road blocks and they won't let people go check on their homes. Hundreds of people are displaced in hotels that they can't afford. She is going home to her gated community in Santa Fe and turning on the A.C. while people that have homes they can go to are screwed. The governor is treating citizens like children, gathering them together and telling them that they can't go to their homes. Give a woman power and it goes to her head every time. The deputies and state police love this stuff, they live for it and enjoy manning the road blocks and refusing to let someone pass. Can you believe this crap. The governor won't give an intelligent reponse to complaints and sticks to her guns, like a good control freak would. People that have heavy equipment that could stop fires and draw dozer lines to help out are powerless, they can't go home !!!!!! I had to walk 8 miles through steep terrain to get home and I have health problems. The governor is an idiot and a control freak.

And you keep posting the same crap over and over with different monikers! There is a reason some areas are still blocked. You might end up like the lady in CO whose body was found in her burnt down house.

Oppressed/Victim/Concerned:

It appears to me that the ones acting like children, throwing fits because they're told no, are the only ones that are distressed by the presence of the National Guard and Governor Martinez's decisions. Maybe you need to consider people other than yourself. A new idea for you I'm sure. You are not the only one effected by this fire. Get off your soap box, we've all heard your crap already and we're tired of it.

Oppressed, I understand its frustrating that people aren't allowed to go check on their property yet but I also understand the reasons why, but then you take it one step further and make a jab about 'women with power', do you have a problem with women in an authoritative position? Why? I'm not being snarky, I'm just asking a question. Ok, two questions.

I rest my case ....you proved my point. Woman are so big on paper and verbally abusive. They do abuse their positions and make terrible supervisors for that reason. You know what would happen if you tried to physically fight a man so give it a rest.

Sorry but i have seen nothing but disaster each time I watched a female supervise anything. They are abusive, personally attack others, hide behind their positions to step on peoples heads. I am sure that there are good female supervisors out there but i have never seen them. I always thought that a woman president might be good for the country, but one would have to be found that does not cater to women, think that killing babies in wombs is ok, or make special laws to attack men instead of using existing laws to cover the same issues that pertain to everyone else. One that could see the damage of womens organizations, black colleges or any other sex/race discriminating activity. You asked a question in a decent way and thats my answer.

just angry at the situation and the way its being handled. I had to walk over 8 miles cross country to check on my family because of a police road block on a road that has no fire or smoke and same for my whole area. The fire is past but the road blocks continue. Can i meet you somewhere i really want to meet you.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Cancer

Love could catch you by surprise today. You might be strongly attracted to someone who isn't your usual type at all but who makes your knees go weak all the same, or you could get caught up in an illicit relationship that's exciting because it has to be kept a secret. If you're already involved with someone they'll need plenty of freedom and won't appreciate feeling emotionally tied down. You need to let them off the leash for a short while!
