If your dog or cat isn't fixed, you have to get a permit. You have to get litter permits too, if you pet has a litter. If the county doesn't think you have the right housing for your animal, you have to build it their way or lose your animal. or livestock. I have 5 foot fencing around my 10 acres, the county want's 6 foot fencing. I can't afford to refence my property. I don't live in the city, none of my animals have gotten out.
This new ordinance needs to be voted down.

It's about time someone started doing something positive for the well-being of animals.
They have no voice. We need to speak for them.

Thank all the citizens of Otereo County....

They all had the opportunity to change leadership in the County.

They all decided to keep the current leadership in place, Now the bed is made, Now we all get to lie in this unkeep bed...Isn't like grand in Otereo County.

Next will be the tax increase..

Why do you think more animals should be born when so many are killed every day because there are not enough homes?

it just takes one bad seed to cause problems and every one else suffers.... I had animal control out and they did not mention to me to raise my fence and I have 5ft. They just said the state law superceeds local law, and if my dogs "look" or "appear" to be able to jump the fence and someone complains, they can take the dogs regardless if they are harmless.

above is what the county animal control officer uses. just last week.

It's about our rights and freedoms afforded us by the bill of rights. They have no way to enforce this pitiful document and it ONLY applies to the unincorporated areas of the county. That's about one half the population. Many of us live in the country because we don't want government interference in our affairs. My dogs are spayed. That's MY business. Not otero couny's and I want to keep it that way. What will it be next? Involuntary sterilization of people to curb irresponsible breeding among that species? The government needs to stick with providing essential services and leave me the hell alone.

(3) acting in a highly aggressively manner within a fenced yard or enclosure and appearing able to jump out of the yard or enclosure;

E. "proper enclosure" means secure confinement indoors or outdoors, such as in a fenced yard, locked pen or other structure, that is designed to prevent the animal from escaping the confined area and young children from entering the confined area but does not include chaining, restraining or otherwise affixing the animal to a stationary object;

From your link. "highly agressive"

Please show me where it says in the bill of rights that you can breed your pet to exhaustion. Like it or not, the government has to pay for unwanted animals, either thru housing them in a shelter or euthanizing when they run out of room.

There are many rights provided us that are not specially set forth in the bill of rights. The number of children we have ... or don't have comes to mind. Don't get me wrong. I am passionate about animal welfare and responsible breeding as is evidenced by my own dogs being spayed. I know there is a problem but it's not gonna get solved by more legislation. Education and low cost spay/neuter clinics is a viable step in the right direction. Rebuttal?

e) Livestock must be confined no less than 100 feet of the property line of any inhabited dwelling.

What gives you the right to tell me! The property owner how to manage my own property, and where I can put my livestock confinements. When you start to pay for my property or become my landlord then you can tell me where, and how to build my confinements. I moved out to the county to get away from the city’s stupid ordnances, or is this a new way of getting more money to fund your new projects without calling it a tax. Now you can just fine the property owners for being in violation of the new ordnance more money for the county. I all ways know that you were a wolf in sheep’s clothing, one big democrat. Finding new ways to get money for your liberal agenda. Elections 2014

I am concerned as I am looking into rabbits or chickens as a 4-h project for my kids. 100ft away from our dwelling is too far to ensure safety of the small animals. We have had coyote and bobcat incidents in our neighborhood. I hve a 75lb dog that is an active dog that barks at passers by and can put her frontlegs over our fence. She is a big dog and can "look"(hopelessly goofy) intimidating but she is unable to jump our 4 ft fence. She was injured about 3-4 yrs ago. She can run, stand on hind legs while her front legs are on top fence rail but she CAN NOT jump it.

Actually, you can legally let your livestock run free as this is a fence out state, but most of us with common sense and common decency pen our animals up. I too will be voting against Susan Flores in the next cycle of Commission elections. She doesn't even have the decency to answer your e-mails. When confronted about the last livestock ordinance she proposed, she wouldn't even take credit for it. She needs to go!

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Aquarius

If you're a typical Aquarian you're often quite idealistic and today is no exception. You're wandering around on cloud nine, especially if you're thinking about a very special someone, and indulging in all sorts of deliciously romantic daydreams. Reality? You've no time for it right now, because it will intrude too much on your fantasies.
