Closing libraries? Are you kidding me? Libraries are the fundamental institution of culture and knowledge in a community. Be careful Colton...only slums dont have libraries. You could put yourself on that path.

Too late

Thats funny they are closing the libraires but hve 2 strip clubs open LOL
Maybe the strip clubs could become corporate sponsors and help keep the libraries open.
i guess looking back....we should have accepted a 15% reduction in pay.....because as time moves on....all the solidarity and brotherhood for not taking the cities offer will fade...and ......i want my mommy.....wah wah.......
Yes dumb arse. We are taking furlough days in Redlands which equates to the cut in pay. U guys are a bunch of stoopid city employees. Were you duped by Steve Filarsky? |
Being relatively small, one thing the people of Colton have is the ability to have more direct control over what happens.
I think you folks should immediately recall all of the self serving idiots running your town. Get going! |
If the city can survive with 60 less employees, why were they hired to begin with? Recall the council, they're the problem.

WOW!!!
That is..... WOW!!! |
Colton employees currently have furlough days. They wanted 15% in addition to the furlough days they were already deducting from their pay. |

Libraries are the fundamental institution of culture and knowledge in a community. What a bunch of B/S this is.

My god the library is closed, its the end of the world

Recall is always an option. That is in the State codes. However, a new council will find the same old problems, lack of a continuous stable revenue flow. Granted, in recent years past, when revenues were in abundance, cities should have recognized that fact and used some of it for one-time capital expenses and learned to live on a smaller amount for on-going operations. However, the council only reacts to whatever small groups that are vocal. Hindsight is always 20/20. That being said, a new city council will see the same problem, lack of revenues. If I make less money next year, maybe I stay with my old car and go out for dinner less. But if I decide those things are important, I can sacrifice something (time) and work a extra job. The voters of Colton will have to make such decisions, and the existing council would be willing to make such cuts, but don't expect those cuts to be without a service consequence. You cannot complain about costs and then also complain about service level when costs are cut.

"Ramsey also expressed anger that, as of Thursday, the Colton Police Officers Association had not been impacted by concessions or layoffs. That, he said, has forced other city employees to endure deeper cuts."
I understand they took furloughs and gave up a raise, and had a layoff. Plus, the whole department had 25% of all layoffs. Ramsey is not even a city employee. He's a paid union hack who only cares about getting his stupidity published in the paper. |

Truther, a quick check of your little village of 780 residents shows me that it doesn't even HAVE a library (much less one to close), and it only has two full-time employees. Your 97.4% white community, 50% Southern Baptist population with 2/3's the income of an average city in Illinois (that no doubt voted heavily for McCain) has absolutely noting in common with an urban city in California. We like our libraries, they are center of learning, filled with retired people in the a.m. reading papers, with students in the afternoon that have no other place to study and with families at night. Now, go take the bus to DuBois and go to their library, it might help open your eyes, but I doubt it. Statistics show that the great midwest has far less library space, books and hours (per person) in the midwest than the coastal areas. It is it any wonder we see that science is also not valued in that area. Go read a book. |

now we are poor and stupid, what are the people running this city thinking recall all of them there only out for themselves.
ohh my!! POMONA is in the house and coming in with the wood. OUCH. Facts and Stat's on TOPIX. RESPECT. |
another story of inept governance ruining local families due to their incapabilites to perform their duties. what do you expect when you hire a cop to run a city? its shameful.

Time to recall Chastain and a few others who did this to us. Ask Police services from the Sheriff ( you wont have to pay all those top heavy pd guys) and bring in County Fire, no more Union.
Why hasnt anyone asked Josie Gonzalez for help??? Have SB County give Colton a price? This could save all of us. Next year UUT, another 5 million. Recall and change is needed now. Thank God Nuami is gone, he Parrish, and Chastian should have been fired. |
Call Josie Gonzalez bring County Sheriff and County Fire, that will save all of us and recall the Mayor Chastain. |
