Maybe before you have 4 kids, you should make sure you always have transportation. Not enough students = no need for a damn school. Get over it.

Smaller classes is what every parent strides for when enrolling their children into a school. Shadybend should stay open and be available to the small surrounding community.

If that is true that EVERY parent wants smaller class sizes, why would one women have 4 ELEMENTARY AGE KIDS at that school.

Her problem is not class size, it is birth control, and the fact that she can'[t afford to transport her kids - according to her.

I agree to a degree; I don't understand people who spurt out kids they know they can't really afford.

Maybe the following illustrates the mindset: I asked this young "father" of four, who wasn't even married to the mother(s) and who had an $8/hour job, why he wasn't working harder in school so he could get a better job... his response: "I don't have any money but I am rich in children."

Instead of closing Shadybend there has been no evidence that the School district is trying to help promote Shadybend to boost enrollment to continue running the school. With all of Shadybend's successes keeping it open should be the priority for the students of the school.

Wow, I hope when you have a concern of your own and you are in need of something someone puts you down for it like you did others.

One of the reasons you have a reduced enrollment is because so many of us moved away to new areas. This is a problem all over the state new area need new school old areas do not.

Believe me I help plenty of people out. You have no idea, who I am, but after 2 kids you can't afford, you should get the hint about poverty and it's impact on your potential children.

4 is too many.

Shadybend should definitely remain open!! Why close a school that has dedicated teachers, parents and students? It sounds like they are doing something right if they have been able to raise test scores. Why doesn't the school district focus their attention on the schools that are not performing, regardless of school size. If this school with low enrollment is performing, leave them alone. Is closing it really going to save the district money if they plan to use it for adult ed? I don't think so. I will definitely join you on May 15th!!

I attended the parent and community meeting at Shadybend School on May 6th. Why were there no school board members there to hear out the parent concerns?

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but number of children people have is their own business and not anyone elses.

There were no school board members there because it would be considered a school board meeting. Why would the superintenant who is trying to close the school help the parents by asking school board members to be at the May 6 meeting.

Not when our tax dollars pay for their education. Having kids you can't afford to raise is insane, and unfair to the kids and taxpayers.

You are clearly off topic. I pay taxes for your children to go to school and I have never attended public school. Get over it. It costs to close a school and It takes two years for the district to break even. I think you need to stay on the topic of the school closing and stop being so judgemental of other people.

I am on topic. When people have too many kids we need more schools. If it was up to me, I would charge parents if they had more than 2 kids for them to attend public school. I say close as many schools as we can to save money.

If you are a home owner you directly pay for education, if you don't know what that means, I suggest you check it out.

Otherwise, they is no direct public funding from your taxes.

Ok, this Poster of the Truth person is so ignorant of the issues that are going on with the school closure. Attend a meeting and educate yourself with all of the different reasons to close the school or keep it open. At the last meeting no where was your point made at the meeting. What you are saying is not a concern of the district or the parents of the school. You are bringing up a point that is of your opinion. I never heard the superintendant complain about the number of children people had or make any judgemental comments about the families in the district.

That is because they are afraid to make the obvious point. In fact, they want the people in the community to have more kids because they get funded based on each individual child. So the more kids, the more budget money.

It really is a stupid system. Also this system allows tax money from wealthy areas to be used only in those areas, and poor areas are stuck with peanuts.

Look it up, educate yourself, and you will get what I am saying.
