Chipman's Pt. nixed as site of temporary lake bridge

New York State Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner Stanley Gee and Vermont Agency of Transportation Secretary David Dill today announced that the states will not explore the crossing between Putnam, Washington County, N.Y ., and Chipman's Point, Addison County, Vt., as a potential temporary bridge site.

Are you kidding me...the state had nothing to do with ousting chipman point..the people who owned it did. What a stupid idea..yea lets put a ferry crossing or another bridge 15 miles from whitehall.that sure would help the people alot!

I agree that it was a stupid idea and it would not of worked. BUT, FYI I know the property owner and he was going to lease the land and in his generosity offered a very low price if they chose to put it there in an effort to help the area fix this issue.
