I used to let my son play for the Spartans, and we still have family that plays, however this will be their last year..Some parents would like to know why is it that only board members win the money every year at the raffle, all of you spartan mom's have really let yourself go I must say, well except Kathy, pretty sad and who won the money,oh yeah fat-ass Tina Ridley..Serious woman it must kill you that this is all you will ever have, but don't worry..Soon you will have so many people up that snobby fat ass finding out exactly where all the money is..So sad that you will never make it out of Round Lake, and your taking advantage of innocent kid's who just want to play and have fun..By the way people next time watch all of the board members closely..They never pay for anything,I have also witnessed someone stealing money from the drawer at team wear.....(board member)..

First of all learn how to spell... it's "our" not "are". Secondly, this is a raffle and board members don't always win so get your facts straight. There are thousands of tickets that go in the barrel. The drawing is done out in the middle of the field and we randomly asked a cheerleader from the McHenry to come and pull a ticket. It's called luck, get over it.

Board members pay for everything with the exception of an occasional hot dog, burger or pop. It's the least we can get for all the hours we put in not only during the season but in the off season. This is a parent-run organization and none of us get paid for what we do- no one. If you feel that your money is being spent poorly please come to the next board meeting, it's open to the public. And if you really did in fact seen a board member stealing from our spirit wear table then please address that as well. Look at your chalk talk for more info.

The Spartan are a parent run orginization for the kids, This Board watches every dollar come in and out it seems to me you really do not know what your talking about! If you had a spine you would talk to peoples face and not on a blog.
If you think people are stealing than bring the info to the Board anyone can attend, then you can speak out.

Or, if you feel intimidated by that, the police or state's attorney - if you have a shred of proof of anything beyond the fact that you are an uneducated idiot.

With the kind of responses the person just got from those close to the board or on the board, I can see why they don't want to bring it up at a public meeting so you kind and generous people can jump all over them.

As far as stealing goes, the person said they witnessed it and I think that means they know exactly who is doing it. All each of you can say for sure is whether or not you were the person they witnessed stealing. If any of you are responsible board members, you would raise this issue yourselves at the next meeting and put some guidelines on the perks for volunteers so there is no misunderstanding between the board, volunteers and the participants.

The obvious answer is that if you don't like the way things are run, get out there and volunteer yourself. Why is it that the same people always end up doing the work? Well, because some people just like to sit back and complain but their time is too valuable to actually put forth some effort and volunteer.

Just Sayin -
You are making an assumption that there are not currently any checks and balances nor a reconciliation process in place. If he has proof of theft, he should bring that specific proof to the attention of the full board at a public meeting so that it is on record. Let them investigate. What should one expect from ignorant unfounded allegations made on a topix discussion board than the responses they got? To expect anything different is as ignorant as the original comment.
If the way that investigation is handled nor the outcome is satisfactory to the original poster then go to the police and/or higher authorities. My guess is that there is nothing material to find. It also sounds as if the major concern - the raffle, was handled as independently as possible. Likely the board member who won also purchased a significant amount of tickets. That is usually the case.

For everyone's information the PTO raises money for the schools but you didn't know that we PTO members take money from the funds to stick in our own pockets.

Sorry but I will not tell you who I am, I just wanted to get that off my chest for some time now. I have been feeling guilty for a long time and I am going to get off the PTO because the others have corrupted me and I just can't live with it any more.

You are making an assumption that no one would try to work around the "checks and balances". It happens all the time.

I can think of a lot of reasons why someone wouldn't want to make a public statement about theft they witnessed by a board member. One of them would be what their child might experience if they wanted to continue being part of the program.

And you are making the assumption that there are no checks and balances in place to catch those attempting to go around the original checks and balances.

Look, the point is that if someone truly wanted to steal something they could likely get away with it on some smaller scale. In fact, there are instances of large thefts (Elk Grove Little League I think was one of the more recent).

Bottom line is that without some shred of proof other than I saw this, this person is just pissing in the wind. What good does sounding off on this forum do amongst all the intelligent conversation such as the entire Marin Valdez stuff? Nothing. If you have proof bring it forward through the proper channels or shut up and quit the organization.

Sounds like you wish everyone would shut up and stop asking questions. Kind of like circling the wagons, hm? That's what makes people more suspicious, not less.

And your comment about posting things on Topix not having any value just makes you look foolish because you are doing the same thing.

Don't try and bully me. I don't wish everybody would shut up and stop asking questions. I never said that. What I said is that whining on topix will accomplish nothing. In point of fact it is borderline slanderous.

There are proper channels through which to handle such matters. Whining here is pandering to the lowest common denominator, which both you and I enjoy watching (I'll give you more credit than you give me).

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
